I put a chicken stock cube in the saucepan when cooking them (a tip I got from a chef) & they are lovely :-)
  • My family managed to take advantage of the recent Morrisons Festive Family Feast offer, and now have a fridge full of sprouts! :D

I'm not a massive sprout fan, so haven't got many ideas of what to do with them......I plan to do Bubble & Squeak, but that's all I have!

So.....what's everyone else going to be doing with them?!

I love sprouts :D Had them last night at my sisters as we had the meal deal too.

I'm going to my sisters for Christmas day and we've decided we're going to try these - http://www.morrisons.co.uk/Food/Recipe-search/Index/C/Crunchy-Parmesan-sprouts/ They sound yummy.

Apparently you can make a cake something like carrot cake using sprouts - google brussel sprout cake. Can't vouch for the taste though but if it's anything like courgette cake it's really nice.

Slice them up like little cabbages and then stir fry them with some spring onion and bacon.

I would never have thought of that, but I LOVE courgette cake, so may well give this a go too! Cheers x

That's not a bad idea either - my DD loves sprouts so she'll be loving the next few days, but I like to try to hide the taste a little!

    Thanks guys

Abel and Cole have a similar recipe in their cookbook, 'cept it's diced carrots instead of spring onions. The shredded sprouts go in pretty near the end. It's absolutely delish - especially with a bit of thyme.

I should know - typing this while keeping one eye on the hob making this very dish for the second time this month!

  • When I seen this thread that morrisons recipe jumped into my head. But looks like i was beaten to the punch. Anyway if anyone tries the recipe come back and tell us if it gets the thumbs up. Looks amazing

Barneys mom i'm sure you could substitute another type of cheese that you like. It would definately work with mozzerella, perhaps stilton? a mature cheddar?
