    Afternoon all

Thankyou for all your lovely thoughts n kind wishes and the PMs ..you lovely little lot :kisses:

Things are on hold at the moment :wall: Im sure i will meet myself coming back any minute now :p . Sis reckons she is fine and sounds rather full of beans  .... She is starting her treatment on Monday as planned... she seems to think the stomach pains are because she isn't eating much as she has gone off her food.... she and her DH are carrying on as normal -like she just has a cold... thats the problem.. we don't kow if she is giving us the full details or playing it down ..so we are all imagining the worst  ... I don't want to go haring over there if im not needed and then not be able to get back..if i am -if that makes sense  ..so it looks like im staying put for now..so you will just have to put up with me :D
On the "normal" front... have had some toast and fruit today..oohh and a piece of the spinach and bacon bread i made...trying to keep myself occupied ...

...i will post the original recipe and add what i changed as i only made 1 just incase we weren't keen

    Spinach and bacon bread
    Makes 2 loaves
    grease 2 9" cake tins
    pre-heat oven to 200c
    1. 450ml warm water
    2. 2tsp dried yeast i used 8g fresh for 1 loaf
    3. pinch of sugar
    4. 1 onion -finely chopped
    5. 115g rindless smoked bacon -chopped I used those raw bacon bits/lardons you can get ;)
    6. 225g spinach -thawed if frozen
    7. 675g bread flour
    8. 1.5tsp salt
    9. 1.5tsp grated nutmeg
    10. 25g grated cheddar -i used fresh parmesan
    • put water, yeast and sugar in a bowl -mix and leave for 10 mins
    • drop the bacon into a hot frying pan and add the onion, cook for 10 mins until golden brown
    • if using frozen spinach-drain and squeeze out as much liquid as possible
    • if fresh..wilt in a dry pan then chop and squeeze out
    • sift flour, salt and nutmeg into a bowl and make a well in the centre
    • add yeast mix and add bacon/onion and spinach and mix well to form a soft dough -you may need a little more flour depending on the spinach
    • place in the bowl and cover and leave to double in size
    • tip out and cut in half..knead briefly then shape into balls and press into the tins, mark each into 8 wedges and sprinkle over the cheeses (i threw mine into the mix)
    • cover loosely with a plastic bag and leave to prove
    • bake for 25-30 mins until golden..should sound hollow if you knock on the bottom -cool
Im thrilled that the spinach outside that was bolting hasn't gone to waste ...not sure how clear the pic is... but the piece that was cut has somehow vanished  I think it would be lovely with a nice bowl of HM tomato soup mm
hope its of use to someone :D

Right i had best get off and get some more sorting out done... getting everything ship shape so if i do go back to the UK everything is in place to make klife easier for hubby ;)
    have a good one everyone

Another vote for you to see your family MrsMc, regardless of whether they say Yeah or Nay to your offer to visit. If nothing else, the fact you can show off your new shape would give you the encouragement to continue with your weight-loss when you get back home. Whatever you decide have a :grouphug: to be going on with:o

I also agree with your post Cheerfulness----I've found it difficult asking for help; sometimes because I didn't know what kind of help it is I need.....

Aw--let's throw caution to the wind & have a group dodgy :grouphug: to help us get to the end of May.

I've got the grow-bag & Iceberg lettuce seeds, & also a strawberry plant in a large pot so I'm ready to go....bets are now being placed on just how long either or any survive under my black thumbs:rotfl:

Yesterday food-wise, we had lasagne with all the secret ingredients & today is HM burgers. I've added some dried soya mince & couscousSIZE=1]soaked before I mixed it together[/SIZE in place of oats, good dollop of mixed herbs & a sprinkling of Lea & Perrin...let you know how they taste tomorrow:p Ooh & a SF strawberry jelly with chunks of fresh strawbs & black grapes for pud....phew! No wonder I'm [STRIKE]kna[/STRIKE]worn out!

    Hi guys

Just a quickie to wave and all that kinda stuff. Today's been ok so far
B = Banana, 1 slice seedy toast and peanut butter
L = baked sweet potato and low fat cottage cheese
D = I don't know yet but I fancy a big hunk of meat. Need to up my protein so will have a root in the freezer for what I can defrost in time
S = got a pineapple in the fruit bowl waiting to be chopped up and nom'd to bits

MrsM, flights are so cheap, even if you don't 'have' to go why not just go anyway? An impromptu visit. Sometimes you just have to put your needs first and in doing that will actually fulfill your sister's need, much as she is not voicing it. You sound like you are the perfect person she needs with her right now. And even though she is ok at this moment once her meds start working I am sure she will be so glad that you went. Just leave lots of notes round the house for hubby to water the apotment, ok?

Just signed up on another website for a '500 miles by Christmas' challenge - mine is 800k because the elliptical doesn't work in miles - so have done 7k today plus 50 sit ups and some walking lunges and these hip thrusty things as well. I'm also on the look out for some free weights as I really can't afford gym membership but I want to start doing strength training at least 3 times a week.

What was it SarkySarn said? Nixy's got religion? It ain't that - Nixy has to get her fat erse into a bikini in a few weeks time and so Nixy has got PANIC!

Have a great day ladies, keep up the good work xx

    Hello

I'm not posting much at the mo as I'm feeling very low. I am reading all the posts though and then I feel like a complete fraud because any problems I'm having are nothing compared to what some of you are dealing with.

Mrs M in particular, (((hugs))) for you and your sister.

As for everyone else who gets piddled on by life from time to time - big ((((hugs)))) for you all to share as you see fit!

I'm hoping to be back on track soon:o

    Hello folks:hello:
I was sent home from work on Tuesday and have been in bed with cold/flu _pale_ I'm feeling slightly better now but think I'll stay off the rest of the week.

MrsM - (((((hugs))))) you must do as you think best, it must be so much harder being so far away from your sister and niece.

Pigpen - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING MRS?????????

I've just had new potatoes, sweet potato and lentil burger and courgettes, I might be poorly but I'm still eating!!
Not too hopeful of a loss at SW tomorrow as I've hardly moved all week, no swimming and I've missed 2 dance classes!

It's the last week for my latin class next week  but someone pushed a flyer throught he door saying about salsa/latin classes at a place across the road and it starts the week after so I might give it a looksee.

Off to put my feet up again, See you later folks:A

  • Evening all

I know I'm new here and don't know you all, but I would like to send my thoughts and ((((((hugs))))) to all of you feeling low at the moment. There seems to be a lot of it going round. There were a couple of people at work today "down in the dumps" too. Personally, I blame the weather!!

On the subject of replacing food, has anyone tried liqorice tea? I know a lot of people don't like herbal tea, but this one has got a really powerful, sweet kick. It tastes as though you've eaten a spoonful of sugar and is absolutely calorie free. I'm drinking a mugful right now to keep me away from the chocolate cakes the kids are having for pudding.

Haven't been very good foodwise so far today. Wednesday at work is "Tiffin" day, and I've had 2 onion bhajees and a veg samosaicon9.gif, as well as the sandwich I had taken for myself. Oh well, maybe if I have no tea I'll make up for it.

    Have a good evening everyone.
