[Shy newbie pops her head round the door]
Is there room for another newbie to join in? I really need to lose quite a bit of weight (BMI is 32/32) but have a really, really bad track record with dieting. I only ever manage to stick to a diet for 5-6 weeks max and then gradually go back to my old habits. I've been comfort eating for so long (15+ years) that it's become a habit/addiction and I also have a tendency to graze rather than eat proper meals. Oh, and I also eat when I'm bored, which means that I eat virtually non-stop at work (not helped by endless free snacks on offer). It would be amazing if I could lose a stone and a half (or even two) but I doubt my ability to stick to anything for that long. But, ever hopeful, I thought I'd sign up here to see if I could pick up a few tips. Any ideas on how to get started?0 -
Hi guys, hope you're all having a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend
Well finally had some movement on the scales, I'm now 10stone 11lbs, drop of 4lbs. Quite happy with that *grinning* but I have been drinking water til it runs out of me, reducing my salt intake as much as possible, calorie counting and crying on my cross trainer. Plus I had had quite a big jump in my inches lost and so figured I was due a decentish loss.
Oh that means I hit my Marvellous in May challenge which was 4lbs. So happy about that as well.
Big hugs to everyone, I'm off to kiss my cross trainer xx
Does salt make you retain fluid or something? I have been having salt in an attempt to get my blood pressure up, wondering if this would be having an effect on my body?"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Evening all :hello: and welcome to Sylvia and Tootallulah (love the name:D )
Oh I have been a bad girl today - got up with good intentions of muesli brekkie - bit of a break then off for a swim. Hubby got up and decided he needed to get out of the house for a bit. So off we trotted to town - ended up in the pub with a plate of nachos between us (and I had two large glasses of wine:eek: ). Not holding out much hope for that last pound this week. Must get back into it tomorrow. Am meeting a friend for coffee (I have the next two days off :T ) and should be able to fit in a swim.
On another note we have had a wedding invite for August - evening do only but it is black tie. Means OH will have to hire a penguin suit and I need to lose lots of weight to get in a nice LBD number!!! It is 13 weeks so should be able to shift at least a stone and a half if not more. Pebbles - can I borrow your determined head (are you Worzel Gummidge in disguise :rotfl: :rotfl: )
Off now to enjoy the last of my BH evening.

my determination should perhaps be called fear, as it has come from trying on my tankinis etc and being positively scared!!! LOLPlease be nice to all moneysavers!

If the low bp isn't caused by anything in particular and I can live with the low BP then they don't treat. Most of the time it's only low, once or twice in the last few weeks it's been very low. 80/58 at the docs a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps we can share and average it out? Have lots of people offering to change places. LOL! I have the BP of a young, fit woman! or so the doc once told me with his tongue firmly placed in his cheek. I'm worse in the summer, I try really hard to drink plenty, as this will keep the pressure up.
It's not a bad problem to have really!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Morning everyone,
i only had a couple of lots of toast yesterday and just picked at food, i really couldn`t be bothered as it`s been just me for the last couple of days.
I know this is bad for me and it`ll take a couple of days to turn things around but i should be fine.
I`m back to w**k tomorrow and i`m doing a job where i can`t eat all day so i`m quite looking forward to it, i`ll be in the kitchen later making lots of food both good and bad as DH will be home later today and will want biscuits and cakes etc.
Sylvia thanks for posting the recipe, sounds lovely
