Anyone seen this about how a big breakfast can help you lose weight and keep it off ..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7460729.stm
It goes back to the old breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper mentality. Might be worth a go though.
I saw that yesterday and thought I'd do a bit of research:j
The ratios of the diet are
Breakfast 610 calories
58g Carbs
47g Protein
22g Fat
Lunch 395 calories
34g Carbs
28g Protein
13g Fat
Dinner 235 calories
5g carbs
18g Protein
26g Fat
Bit fiddly
Still...the thought of a nice large brekkie was too much of a temptation. I had to try it (for research purposes you understand;))
So had 610 calories for brekkie. Then sort of lost the plot
550 for lunch and got a feeling the dinner is about 30g carbs...which isn't far off
BTW, she originator of the big breakfast diet does have a book out with good reviews. Unfortunately it's in Spanish. I am bilingual (English and Dorset), but not Spanish:o Got a funny feeling BB diet isn't going to suit me anywayCambridge Weight Plan Consultant0 -
Can anyone on here with ME/CFS please help me ... I've just got my claim form through for DLA. I've had CFS for a year but I've not yet seen a consultant/specialist about this as they ran out of funding  I have an appointment for september.
My question is should I wait until september before sending off the claim? Is it likely to be rejected without a diagnosis? I do have a letter from my doc but it only says I am likely to have it. Will I be able to reapply if I get turned down or should I wait to apply later (I know that you can appeal but not sure if you can reapply with the same illness. I dont want to have to appeal as I'm agoraphobic). Please help cos I would prefer to wait rather than mess it up but I'm not sure what to do? Thanks in advance for any help. xxx
PM if you dont want to reply on hereTo stay on thread... I have planned my food for tomorrow:
B: 1weetabix with raisins & 1 slice of toast
L: ham & cucumber sandwichesfish bake with cous cous salad
S: fruit/ yoghurt

Hello folks,
myself and master cranky have just had a small stroll round town as I needed some knitting row counters. I did have one, but someone fiddled with it and it's gone. Funny, but before I had a baby I could keep count in my head:rotfl:
I had some chocolate last night as I was very wound up by an extremely grumpy child. He kept me awake from 1am to 2.30am on Tuesday night, which is probably the reason he was grumpier than usual yesterday. Apart from that I have been very good.
Frogga, the first place any excess energy from food is stored is as glycogen in your muscles and around your liver. In order for it to be stored it needs water, so say your body was storing 1/2 lb of glycogen, that glycogen would be stored with 1 1/2 lb of water, total weight 2lb. Anything that can't be stored as glycogen is then converted to fat stores. Glycogen is the first energy source to be used by the body, and when the glycogen is used, the water is excreted as sweat and urine. That's what I've read anyway.
Take care all of you0 -
Well I survived MrT - bought caramel rice cakes and value malt loaf as snacks though - but at least they are low fat and better than crisps etc
Also bought a tin of lychees. No black cherries in there though so not sure what I'll do about my oats with no cherries
Did my mile walk there and carried 3 bags back with me so that's another bonus in the fight the flab campaign I suppose :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Cranks ~ Ok.................. think I get it.......... so what am I supposed to do then?
Drink lots of water to get the glycothingy out? Tell me again
I am a Frog you know
Well, Mr Frog failed his test and was v cross  and then a bitand then when I came home from work we had a laugh about it so now he's a bit :rotfl: Obviously some people on here were not crossing their fingers hard enough
He was fed up because he's NEVER failed before at anything so unlike some of us he's not sure how to handle it! So expert at failing over here gave him some pointers  Never mind he can try again, and what's £1050 between friends

Hi All,
Sorry to hear about your Dad Toni, and hope he is recovering well now. Commiserations to Mr Frogga and well done to the losers of weight.
I've not posted for a couple of days as I've been engrossed in my new hobby - knitting. My Mum posted me a load of oddments which arrived on Tuesday and since then the needles have been clicking away. I even knitted in the car yesterday when we went out. I've started a scarecrow from the Jean Greenhowe book and so far have done head, body, sleeves, half a coat, one boot and one mitten. I went out to buy some stuffing this morning so should be able to start putting him together tonight. It has certainly taken my mind off food and I managed to have under 1200 calories yesterday without really noticing it.
I haven't abandoned the exercise though and have just got back from a 7 mile walk. The weather was perfect, sunny but with a breeze so didn't get too hot. I had a similar walk on Tuesday evening but only managed a walk around town yesterday.
B: Muesli mixed with fruit and fibre, raisins, skimmed milk.
L: Boiled egg with 2 slices of toast and Flora. HM yoghurt with a spoonful of HM lemon curd stirred in.Spinach pizza with side salad. Banana.
Right off to do another mitten before OH gets in and wants his tea.
