how many people do you think die from a reaction to acne treatment Ted? DO you reckon it's as rare?"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

Like many of the other natural anti inflammatory and anti biotic substances I have already provided links to Green Tea has many other health benefits.hamstercheeks wrote: »green tea is supposed to help
If you can't stand the taste (it may take a little getting used to but I usually drink green tea in place of coffee or ordinary tea, In Indian/Asian corner shops particularly those supplying authentic Indian curry ingredients you can buy green leaf tea at a sensible price, chinese cash and carries are also a cheap source of ordinary green tea) you can use it for bathing the skin directly. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

No it's really not uncommon for teenagers on acne treatment to react adversely to the treatment. They most often commit suicide.superstylin wrote: »how many people do you think die from a reaction to acne treatment Ted? We should ban acne treatment and nuts then eh? similar incidence?0 -
I don't think you have established uk deaths from nuts (as distinct from peanuts) are equivalent in number to those attributed to acne medication have you?We should ban acne treatment and nuts then eh? similar incidence?
You can see here the deaths that have been associated with acne treatment. It's up to you to establish the risks are equivalent. I don't think you will be able to do so.
My point is that diet solves the acne problem at source as not only does it reduce or eliminate the causes it also enables the skin naturally to improve it's antimicrobial and anti inflammatory properties. I can see the justification for using drug treatments after ALL ELSE has failed but when we know full well the health benefits to brain and body of a low carbohydrate diet and the advantages of having optimum Vitamin D3, magnesium and omega 3 status it seems potty not to eliminate the cause of the problem rather than be forever using potentially harmful drugs to treat the symptoms.
This is a money saving website as eating healthily saves having to buy expensive acne treatments and/or use prescription medicines then it should be encouraged.
It is perfectly possible to eat a paleo style diet without the use of nuts.
You cannot say using acne medications has additional health benefits that could equally well justify their use but I can point to health benefits arising from the use of optimum amounts of Vitamin D3, Omega 3, Magnesium while eating a low carbohydrate diet that are worth doing by everyone, even those who don't suffer from acne. Think about diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and depression for starters. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Not deaths caused by acne treatment then. You showed suicide rates of people who happened to be on acne treatment. Many variables could be at work there. Do they know that the treatment caused death? no. So I'd say you haven't established risk regarding acne treatment.0 -
Depression has been reported in some patients treated with isotretinoin, an effective medication for nodulocystic acne, a serious disorder resulting in permanent scarring. Since major depression, a common disorder associated with multiple health risks including suicide attempts and treatment noncompliance, may occur during the course of treatment with isotretinoin, persons treated with isotretinoin must be screened for depression before starting treatment and monitored for depression regularly during the course of treatment with isotretinoin. Those with evidence of depression must then be referred for prompt treatment to abort serious adverse outcomes, including suicide. Psychologists constitute key members of the treatment team of patients taking isotretinoin. Not deaths caused by acne treatment then. Isotretinoin and the controversy of psychiatric adverse effects It's worth reading the full text of this review if you want to understand why this drug may be producing the reported adverse events.
But you still haven't produced any good reason why my suggestion that cheap, risk free dietary methods for the reduction and prevention of acne should not be deployed before adopting higher risk drug based interventions?
VITAMIN D IN ACNE MAYNARD Read the case studies, Look at the results.
SUMMARY
I believe I may say that at no time in my dermatological experience have I felt such complete satisfaction with a treatment as I have with the cases of this series. I know that vitamin D is an imperfect weapon to slay this disfiguring disease, but it undoubtedly gives one a feeling of being well defended. From the patients' viewpoint, it has left little to be desired, as they find themselves improving, both in appearance and in general well-being.
iMany have expressed the sentiment, "Never felt better."
Now we don't have to use Viosterol we can order a efffective amounts of D3 online for next to nothing and rather than increasing depression effective amounts of D3 are associated with improved feelings of wellbeing. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I came off dianette four months ago. My skin got quite bad. Since I have been using Loreal acne response 3 step system it has cleared up very well. I bought this product in the USA, it's a box with cleanser, toner and spot cream. It dries skin out a bit but really really works. I don't know if you can get it in the UK.0

Acne vulgaris, mental health and omega-3 fatty acids: a report of cases The full text of this paper is online for those who click the link. Remember that using EFFECTIVE amounts of omega 3 is important. We know from other research that our bodies need at least 1.5g or 1500mg of EPA +DHA daily to correct our omega3<>omega 6 ratio.
It's also the case correcting omega 3 insufficiency fits in well with correcting vitamin D and magnesium status levels as well as changing to a low refined carbohydrate paleo style diet reduces the aggravating hormonal driving forces. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Ted, you can find studies and quotes galore to back up your theories just as much as you could find the same thing to refute them.
Several studies have suggested a possible link between isotretinoin and clinical depression.[16][17] However, no conclusive evidence has been produced...While analyses have suggested an association between isotretinoin therapy and depression, no causal relationship has been established and further studies are required.[19][20]
Studies have shown that patients with acne, the population group eligible to receive isotretinoin therapy, have an increased risk of clinical depression compared with the general population.[21][22] BUT Chee Hong describes Isotretinoin-related depression as "an idiosyncratic side-effect", claiming, often anxiety can bring on acne and depression, creating more anxiety.[23] Correspondingly, treatment of severe acne with isotretinoin has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression, for tests have shown acne to be a main depressant in most tested patients' lives.
Depression, aggravation of existing depression, aggressive tendencies, anxiety, and changes in mood have been reported rarely in patients taking isotretinoin (i.e. occurring in one or more of every 10,000 patients, but in fewer than one in every 1,000 patients); abnormal behaviour, psychotic disorder, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt, and suicide have been reported very rarely (ie, in one in every 10,000 patients or fewer).
I could find more of this kind of thing (as you seem to be quite fond of it) but it seems pointless, as you have ideas that are firmly set and you see fit to shove it down people's throats even when they don't want to hear it.
Please don't use the moneysaving excuse for choosing diet first either, because of all your thousands of posts, I'd imagine a tiny percentage is money related (virtually all medical related since you seem to have taken on the mantle of 'keeping people informed'). Well, that is, apart from the rants about Vit D3 that I'd swear you had a share in.0
