Asda ripping us off with carrier bags?

Just wanted to put in my recommendation...
Aldi's material bags, 99p and are absolutely huge, we bought 2 about 18 months ago and have very rarely needed to obtain an extra bag.
Fair enough, it's only the two of us at home but they are great.
Keep one in the car then you can't be caught out when you are shopping.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -

I agree with you regarding the packaging. I really hate everything in plastic bags like potatoes and veg etc. For one thing, it makes the contents sweat and helps them to go mouldy quickly. I'd rather they used recycled brown paper bags - especially for mushrooms. I think we are all grown up enough to put how much we want in a bag ourselves.
Ah yes, but then you might not buy as much
Actually, I agree, hate the plastic for fresh produce.0 -
I think 70p is a bit steep. My Asda is charging 5p (there's often vouchers to get them free), which for something that lasts for life it's not bad.
I think it's a great idea. We know Asda are probably at least in part doing it to save money but so what? the environment is still being helped. I think it's great to see people walking into supermarkets with a handful of carrier bags trying to do their bit instead of picking bags up which might go in the bin.
The only gripe I have is, that I have to start paying for bin bags!0 -
Was it the plastic bag for life he was charged 70p for or one of the hessian/cloth ones which are also available at the checkouts (and cost 70p-90p)?0
