True, i think it is a bit of a disgrace, that someone asking for help receives that response.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Just tried to have a quick look & the thread seems to have been removed.
Sounds like a good thing it was.0 -
yes Floss it has been removed , good job - to much venom over there !
just for the record - we have had our house up for sale for 2 years - ever since I lost my job and it has sold 5 times and fallen thru 5 times
we fully intended to downsize and repay what we owe - but putting a CO and CCJ on us has not helped us at all
we will have to rent now ,but we still need a buyer
the last buyer baled out yesterday after 2 weeks saying he didnt realise that Polish people were living next door !!0 -

Racist so-and-so! I think they'd be as good neighbours as anyone else.....probably a good job he doesn't live in my town as he'd never find anywhere he'd be happy with - we have over 40 different nationalities here!0 -

I suppose some people think bereavement, redundancies, divorce and other unexpected life happenings won't happen to them.....
I agree with Rayday - everyone thinks they can pay it back - until the interst-free or fixed-rate period ends, general household expenses / interest rates / bills go up, a life-change as above occurs, and then the sums don't quite add up.
I accept that some people will be taking out credit purposefully - but only a small percentage compared to the number of "normal" borrowers whose circumstances change.0 -

Although I would guess there is no-body with that same attitude on the board.
i hate to agree but there are people who do it, but most of the people on here are working their @r$e$ off to pay back what they owe, and posteres who are so openly inflammatory in their comments should be strung up...

Agree as well.
I think it's mostly ignorance, maybe a bit of ego/self-pride and self-elevation. They probably are financially well-off and can't possibly understand how someone could get into debt. It is really short-sighted and a bit arrogant too.
FWIW, I'm not in debt but fully understand that some people are and for all sorts of reasons. As you say, everyone on here is working hard to get themselves out of the red.Amo L'Italia0 -

To be honest this is being spun, the OP has another thread on the same board that is being answered perfectly helpfully because they asked nicely. The original post contained no information needed to answer the question and opened with a pretty rude offensive and personal rant against the legal staff involved in the process, ageist and plain abusive. This put people's backs up.
They then implied they wanted to keep the equity in the house rather than pay off the debts (although I'm not sure they meant that - it was all just very incoherent) and that was the CO objection - which further irritated people and demanded to know why they weren't getting more helpful replies.
They did actually get quite a lot of useful advice although a few just rose to the bait to respond to the abusive, aggressive nature of the OP.
Scattering his/her posts with comments accusing the legal staff and other posters with shouty words and REALLY OFFENSIVE FILTHY-MOUTHED language further antagonised people. To be honest if the original poster had not used such foul language and had asked a clear factual question and then tried to inflame the situation they'd have had a different response.
The OP said some pretty nasty stuff about older people not being able to write properly and being senile etc....0 -
A appeal JUDGE ruled that if a CONSUMER CREDIT AGREEMENT Is incorrectly executed then the creditor is deemed to have made a gift of the monies !0
