Normally use tesco value - but have lately been given some ariel tablets (only use 1, not 2)0

i generally use persil colour tablets, but i only ever use one and some soda crystals. i tried tescos own tablets but they didn't dissolve as i live in a hard water area. i buy them on offer and as there's only me a large box lasts for ages!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Forgot to say earlier you can easily half the amount of washing poxder you use if you live in an area with soft water as i do.0

have to say washing powder is the one area where i find using cheapo is a false economy - possibly because we are in a hard water area - but socks in particular get rigor mortis unless I use Persil and Arial. Arial is brilliant for stains but Persil is best for whites.
However I am stingy with the amount I put in and always buy on special offer. I try not to pay more than 12 pence per wash (according to the number of washes it says on the box - I usually get at least 50 per cent more out of a box)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Well i went for soapnuts in the end, mainly as its a natural product. Not sure about the econess of transporting them halfway round the world
and still have absoutely loads left, so could end up doing over a years washing for less than a fiver
well impressed (only thing it doesn't like is cat-sick)Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -
I like lidl's maxitrat washing tablets. they are £2.15 for a box of 36. I only use 1 per wash not the recommended 2. The results are as good and works out at 5.9p per washBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

We use value tesco/asda bio and then asda/tesco own brand non bio for the little one, and I have just brought value fabric conditioner for the first time, it smells ok!:D
I seem to go thru wash powder really quickly, what with having a little one and living in a hard water area, as it says on the box to put about 190ml in for a normal wash so I just chuck a full scoop in every time. My washer is probably gunged up to the hilt but those calgon tabs are extortionate, will have to try the soda crystals to de-gunge!!
This forum really is turning my brain to fudge, there is so much to take in and very little grey matter!!!
I love it, highly addictive saving money.:j
Although I must admit sometimes when my shopping trolley is gleaming with red and white packets it would be nice just to pick up the first thing that comes to hand rather than comparing prices!! (big sigh!!)0
