I agree with the soap nuts. They are really great and work out at about 2p per wash. I sent for a sample which I am nowhere near finishing yet and I've done about 8 washes out of the sample so far. I have sent for a bag of them but they havn't arrived yet.
At first I was sceptical but they really work and everything has come out much cleaner than with washing powder or bicarb.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

Following advice from the older thread, I bought the ingredients for my own mix today: 1kg Surf (£1.47), 1kg asda bio (50p) and 1kg soda crystals (51p).
So altogether, £2.48 for 3kg, of which I intend to use approx 50g per wash - so 60 washes at 4p each
Also noticed when in asda, 1kg box of value bio powder 50p, 3kg box £1.62. I wonder if anyone actually buys them?some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -

Hi can anyone advise which is the cheapest and best soap powder to use? wondering if anyone has used supermarkets own brands and finds them as good as others.
Thanks for help.0 -
hi hobo, I use Aldi non-bio, as we have funny skin I mix it with fairy non-bio which pads it out; touch wood so far clean clothes & no rashes!!0

We use Co-op own washing powder. It, and the ingredients have not been tested on animals, and they have it on BOGOF on a fairly regular basis. It's been on offer this past week. Priced currently at £2.09. I have used this for years and haven't paid full price for a washing powder since....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Hi! I used to use morrisons bettabuy powder, 50p a box (normal size 10 wash size box) which used to wash the clothes great, but had to stop using it as dd has v sensitive skin, so i now use morrisons non-bio cyclon which i think is about £5.50 for a big 30 wash size box. hth.0

I bought Tesco value this time and it is fine, I used to buy it some time ago but it never dissolved properly but I think they must have changed the formulation as it is fine now. I make sure I use a decent fabric conditioner though to make the washing (and the house LOL) smell nice.0
