    Logged in as administrator?
A Windows Vista feature is simply a set of programs or a particular capability of the operating system that can be enabled or disabled by an administrator.
    How to activate here.

I'm sorry Expresso I must be feeling very dumb today, my accounts are set up as administrator anyway, but I worked my way through the cmd route (Ah! DOS happy memories!) and went into the Administrator, and still could not find VMWare???

Ignore the "VMWare Tools" it's for something totally different and nothing to do with your Draytek problems!!

I have a draytek (original 2600) :D it's usually pretty solid when upgrading firmware.

Also if a firmware upgrade fails then it should default to the FTP update mode! The Draytek tools should have a firmware update program that you can use. if you can't log into the router..

also best way to do an upgrade is with a direct cable connection and never through Wireless :D (bit late! I know)

You have lost me now, I thought that you were trying to check if the TFTP Client was enabled, as the default is off.

So am I but where do I look?
S0litaire - I did do it wired, but didn't think to switch the Windows Firewall off first time I tried it:o . I think this was my problem.

Please guys, I really do appreciate your help - but I do not know how to switch TFTP on - I've looked in Computer Management Services, and cannot see it there, and don't know where else to look or am I looking for something other than TFTP?

    Thanks

OK go in to "Add/Remove Software" there should be an option for "Windows Features" or something like that. Click on it and you should see a long list of items. it's in Alphabetical order so you should find TFTP in the list, just put a tick in the box then click "OK"

    That should turn on tFtp..

Just in case you don't have them....

Oh yes, I did get my brain back in gear here, I thought I had to select an installed program to select, I know I know better, but I think fear has crept in and bemused me.

Now I must try this they sent me:
Can you log in to the router via telent mode? and check the router management port ?
OPen the command prompt and type the following command to enter via telent mode .
    telnet 10.0.0.1

Issue the following command to check the current router management port if the port has been changed use the that port number to log in the router web config
    mngt httpport?

Eg :if the management port set to 81 then you can log in to the router web config 10.0.0.1:81

    So I ticked Telnet too.
