Donny-gal, can I suggest that, until you manage to get the update working, you set up WEP security which is not as good as WPA but much better than nothing? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

The Access Control is set up and working - as good or not as that is, and thankfully I can still get on here wired and wirelessly, but I cannot get into the router to change anything.
Lazy Hippo - I have read and re-read that several times now, and think itis the Abnormal Firmware Conditions area I need to look, at the ACT light is flashing, and I cannot decided whether the WAN is or not or it is the reflection from the ACT light, as it is not as bright as the ACT light. However, I have found TFTP Utility and downloaded it, but that does not seem to be much different.
I think a miracle and not luck is now what is needed.

Thea access control is setup and working?, what do you mean by that?
It sounds like there has been a problem with the flashing so another attempt at flashing may be required using the rst firmware
For future reference It is not a good idea to "flash" any firmware unless the device is connected to a ups, you can easily lead to a useless "brick".
It appears from your post that the original downloaded material contained a firmware for this situation (the aforementioned .rst file so you can take another chance if you consider it worthwhile but may end up bricking it if you are not careful
Attempt again using the cable connection to the router not the wireless, after u have received confirmation from the software it has finished, power off pc and router.
Turn router on, wait a min and restart pc, post back any problemsclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
Wireless security was set up via Access Control using the MAC code before I started, so I have no reason to beleive that this had changed.
Not many of us have UPS's at home and the power did not fail while I was running the upgrade.
So far I have only used the .all file as I do not really wish to put the router back to the factory settings unless all other options have been eliminated.
This was done via a wired connection, though via a switch, but nothing else was being used at the time, would it be better without the switch connection?
I have done the switch off wait switch on a couple of times, and it does not seem to change anything.
The problem now is when I type the url into the web page I get :
File System Invalid.
The file system of Web-based UI is inconsistent with router's firmware.
Please check the firmware version.
So I cannot check out whether the firmware has changed, nor enter any other security methods.

I don't know if this is much help. A German user had a similar problem and recieved advice from Draytek support in the fourth post on this link (translation from German by Google).
Perhaps someone could hazard a guess at better English instructions? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

It looks to me as if the router is now in TFTP mode (you did say that you enabled this in the router in post #14) I don't believe that you should have done that.
If the router is in TFTP mode, either of its own accord, or because you manually enabled it (see below) you must use the TFTP Client Utility instead of the regular Firmware Upgrade utility. The TFTP Client program can be downloaded from the web site.
Should make no difference.

You need to follow the instructions under Abnormal Firmware Conditions on this page here The router is in a fail safe boot loader only mode, meaning that it can be re-loaded using the TFTP Client Utility instead of the regular Firmware Upgrade utility. Even if you do have to go back to factory default settings, you should only need to enter your ISP's username/password to get connected again. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Have you sorted your router yet? Until you set-up WPA encryption you are broadcasting to all. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

No I am talking to Draytek support, but you have to go back to square one again, but keeping trying.
It is still on 10.0.0.1 as I can ping it, but not 192.168.1.1
I am not sure it is in TFTP mode as only the first ACT light is flashing, the second one looks like it might be but I am sure it is a reflection from the first??
I used to be uncertain but now I'm just unsure!!

I have been asked to "
If the laptop and desktop are windows vista then you need to enable the TFTP client in your vista"
Does anyone know how to do this quickly, I will find it eventually . . .
I have googled this and I cannot find the VMware Tools referred to by this does not show on either Desktop Home Premium or Laptop Business.
