This was by poster dunstonh which is interesting if you read it is just an ID check! Money laundering. (7/3/06)
I understand what you are saying. However, you do have to be aware that the information that is seen "at our end" compared to the information you can see "at your end" is totally different.

Take the Experian money laundering report which appears as a check on your report. This searches electoral roll, credit agreements, address, telephone number, personal data (date of birth, marriage status, children, banking details) etc. Quite a large amount of personal data there! However, the output we see at the end just gives it a score out of 100 as to the likelihood of that person being the right person and confirmation of how many things it searched confirmed the address and the identity along with how long they have been on the electoral roll. It also notifies us of errors in the information and potential high risk issues with regards to identity fraud that the data may be able to detect. No other personal information is shown or can be seen.

If we saw all the data, then I would agree with you 100%. As we don't see anything apart from what is already available publically, I can't see an issue with it.

I don't transact mortgage business anymore due to my focus on investment class but when I did, the credit checks done then didnt show much in the way of personal data either. Hopefully, one of the mortgage advisors on the board will be able to chip in to what info they get nowadays.
  • Hi People, I just came across this wed site on google, i must say this is the best money saving wed site i seen in the world. Well done to people who are contributing and doing it:T You have made a real different to ordinary people life.icon14.gif

I like to share my experience on applying credit cards and Bank accout in England, please bear with me if i mis typed or mis spell. My English need to be improved .

I came over to England from China to do my philosophy degree couple of months ago, the course due to start in september this year. I went to 2 banks to open an account, but no luck! No reasons given why i was declined , more than 15 questions asked and I just felt like i was treated like criminal in the bank. I probably would not apply for any current account for a while due to the experience i had. I will see how i cope without a current account in the UK.

I accidently came across the monument credit card wed site on 13 May,after read through the wed site, I applied online on
14 May, not heard anything for a month. The pin number arrived yesterday!:rotfl:I think i must be the lucky person alive after reading through this tread.:p
and i also applied for capital one classic card 3 weeks ago with successful outcome. They gave me 100 pounds limit, :A
I am really over the moon. I will use these 2 credit cards for the time being, and pay them off every month, and see what happen.
So, people don't give up so easily, There's always a hope, as the English always says "there's a will, there's a way";)

Hope i am boring you at this time of the night.

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

Dont let it get you down, have you found out why you have been rejected? Have you got a copy of your credit files ?
