Had some more bad news this week, my Girlfriends Dad had a heart-attack and is in hospital, he drives for the bus company and has got an automatic 3 month bann, they dont have insurance for the Mortgage so they could lose the house if they cant meet the repayments, so I have came up with a plan, give up my house and put most of my gear in storage and move in up there for a year or so till they get themselves sorted, pay most of the mortgage etc, I will not be any better off financially but it will help them out a great deal, so when I find out about the sick pay scheme that will be the deciding factor on my next move. Big sacrifice to make in giving up my home and freedom but I cant sit back and watch them lose there home. :rolleyes:Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Short history of our money problems. We both had IVA's. Had individual debts and some joint debts so financially associated.IVA's completed sucessfully in 2007 and defaults and IVA info dropped off our credit files spring this year 2008. I now have a couple of catalouge accounts, a virgin mobile phone on contract, and have upgraded my basic bank account to a current account with £200 OD facility. I then tried for a CC with my bank but was turned down. My only thought on this was my husband had a CC with them that was included in his IVA and as we are finacially linked this could have been the problem?!
Tried yesterday for Vanquis and Aqua but no instant response...told 10 to 14 days to hear...both are showing as credit checks on my Equifax credit file. Not too hopeful on the Aqua one as it shows as a Halifax CC check and I had debts with BOS included in my IVA so this may go against me.
Just hope Vanquis say yes as I really would like to start building up a good credit rating again.
Husband's salary now going into his basic bank account and he will try to upgrade at a later date. Also he is going to try for contract mobile too.
Will update if we hear back from either CC company;)0 -
Hi , what a few people on here have tried (and been succesful) is Alliance and Leicester premier account , I did two years ago or so when no one would touch me . I had no overdraft or credit card with them . They searched Experian , now I still have my account and a £750 o/d (not that I use much). My Littlewoods and Additions accounts started at around £400 each and now I have £2.5k and £4k facility on each account . Recently I and others have applied for Flybe card - I got £4k (lowest I have seen is £800) they seem ok and only search Equifax.
Others will be along to advise also of there experiences - its a long slog upwards but it can be done!0 -
also be carefull of the amount of searches that you carry out as this will affect you credityou cant change yesterdaybut you can make tomorrow better0

London
who do additions and littlewoods search matey ?? and is the apr high!0 -
They search Equifax - and also follow up periodicallly . APR wise I have listed below the 'different ' catologues and average APR's -
Choice.co.uk - no APR but 15% more expensive than the other companies within the same group.
Additions - 35% , but this can be avoided by paying the min interest free payment - cheapest of the group.
Littlewoods direct - 35% , but again can be avoided by paying the min intrest free payment - prices much the same as above.
Marshal ward - 35% ish but as above . Around 12% more expensive than Additions.
At its peak I had four different accounts and a combined credit limits of £7k.
Great Universal - as above.
Hope this helps - they seem to start you on a limit low and it can then increase to around £3-4k , in two - three years.0 -
