No, I've not tried MBNA. Do they do sub prime? How many searches is acceptable before too many becomes damaging?
    many thanks :)

I would say about 3-4 max in a 3 month period, space them out as far as possible.

Have you tried littlewoods or kays for their 0% finance, they sell computers.

They're damned expensive for what they are though, spec-wise:( There's nothing utterly dead with the one I have, it's just prone to barfing on me at inopportune moments:(

Have you tried Linux operating system?

Not tried Linux, the plan was to replace this tired old machine and then use it to play with the flavours of Linux and see if something took my fancy.

I'm just worried that I may have hit my max for applying for things now. I've got an Aqua card on the way, and I have received my Capital One. I have just been refused two finance deals so I think I ought to take a break and hope this machine doesn't die any time soon:) If I could be guaranteed a line of credit with one of the home shopping cats I might take it, but I'm not wanting to make any more negative marks on my file. I'm waiting for my phone contract to start showing green zeroes rather than a green U. I got the thing in February so it should start showing soon:)

Thanks for the thoughts though. I'm just an impatient girl who likes shinies:D

    Thank you Proliant

I've just bitten the bullet and applied for a Vanquis card online. After filling out loads of info (including bank details ??) it said that they could not give me a decision and will respond in 10-14 days. I did think about applying for Aqua, but I already have a Halifax Visa, and was wondering if I'm allowed to apply for another card as they are the same HBoS group

    Hi Sammy Girl

Yes, you can have a Halifax Visa and an Aqua card ... I got my Halifax Visa in January this year and Aqua about a month ago ..

Just been accepted for a Vanquis card, NOT going to spend anything on it - well, maybe one £10 transaction a month and pay it off in full.

    Are they generally ok?

I also noticed that my Next Directory account has appeared on Experian after 14 months .. Hurrah ... And it's backdated to when I started the account .. :T

Hello Lilian, yes they are good company, they seem to look after their customers and call centres are UK based and English speaking staff too...yay.
