I called Littlewoods to ask them if it was ok to have more than one catalogue under the littlewoods brand (Kays, Additions, Great Universal), the woman advised you can apply for all of them if you like.
So ... I did!
Dont go to the "request catalogue" section, just click "My Account" at the top and enter your email address then click "continue". On the next page miss out the account number section and just enter name and DOB and then "continue". This will now take you through an account application and should tell you instantly.
My current littlewoods account started with a £100 limit and is now at £1400 after about 2 years.
Littlewoods Direct - applied - accepted - £750 limit
Kays - applied - accepted - £750 limit
Great Universal - applied - accepted - £750 limit
Marshall Ward - - applied - accepted - £500 limit
Empire Stores - applied - accepted - £750 limit
Additions Direct - - applied - accepted - £750 limit
Now I know people are going to think what on earth does he want with another £4000 of catalogue credit!
I'm going to make a small purchase on each catalogue and pay it in full next month leaving a £0 balance, my experience of Littlewoods is that once you have placed an initial order they report back account conduct green 0's to the CRA's regardless of wether or not you actually order from them again, each of these catalogue's will be reported as a seperate credit account on your files.
I reckon run these new catalogue accounts, my Vanquis, Cap One & new MBNA for 12 months then cancel them (so not to have too mcuh credit showing as available) and I'll be very much in "excellent credit rating" territory as I have no defaults, CCJ's or late payments anymore (had 4 defaults and a CCJ removed), just about 50 previous searches in the last year!!! :rotfl:
As I said, nothing to do with credit cards but I know lots of people here have Littlewoods accounts and as long as they have been run well I reckon you will be accepted for the others too... fantastic credit building tool if you are careful and use them wisely!
Hope this is of some use to people. :beer:0 -
hi i just would like to ask has now i have contract phone that i paid £150 deposit yesteday be4 to try a mobile i did try littlewood direct i got decline and additions to i got decline becouse there is no credit history on my credit file apart from searches that i did so many diferent advises, telling me to start applying for catalogue and story cards becouse they accept people like me without a credit history. but which ones to apply becouse i dont know which catlg and story card that works without problems. have u got anything to help me to be a little person with something t say i have this and that.thanks
you should still be able to get simplybe.co.uk or fashionworld.co.uk, these 1s still report to your credit files
i was just wondering, with so many catalogues, wouldnt it show that youre using so much % of your income? or is really a case of the more you have, the better?0 -

As long as it is helping people that is the main thing.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

It's of little relevance (to me), I'm not applying for ANYTHING else until September/October next year anywway. This is the beauty of it, my aim is to have a good credit rating by the end of next year so I can get a good rate on my first mortgage and accepted for decent limit on a 0% credit card/s about the same time for furnishings etc. By the time I come to apply for these then I will already have closed the catalogue and sub-prime card accounts (except for 1 catalogue maybe) and they will show as settled accounts with at least 12 months perfect payment history on my credit files.0 -
sounds a good plan to me, and i think ill take that advice too hehe :beer:0

I am pleased to see you guy's are getting sorted out anyway, MBNA told me I could apply for one of their 0% cards in october/november this year so lets just wait and see.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? Well I received my capital one card with a £100 limit not much but it is my first cc in 6 years. Is it sad to say I am excited about getting a sub prime cc with £100 limit?
I will now be able to do things others take for granted like buy online. This is also the first time I have ever had any sort of chip and pin card.
Thanks for the advice I probably wouldn't have applied for this card without this thread.
Well done Proliant on being able to get a 0% card soon, fingers crossed that it goes to plan for you.0 -

Well after I wrote my first post (page 113) I was declined for both capital one and aqua... The reason... "Maybe adverse information from previous address etc". No s**t. But fair enough.
For anyone struggling to get any kind of credit to help their credit files, albeit sub prime cards with rediculous rates, then to help your credit file along get a catalogue account. I have both SimplyBe and Next and both have a starting limit of £150. It's not much but once you have made a small purchase on each and then repay the whole balance off, they will report to all 3 credit bureaus with lovely green O's. Regardless if you buy with them again. Just keep the accounts open. The applications were easy and simple and next doesn't even require you to enter how long at address etc. I was successful online with a default on my report. Add that with the cash plus credit builder and your laughing all the way to a great credit rating.
I am considering applying for the MBNA card everyone is talking about, is it worth me waiting until a unsatisfied default has been removed from my report at the end of next month and I am on the electoral role? It seems they dont have any specific rules...0
