    Hello everyone

    wonder if anyone can help?

Just a quick bit of background info.... declared b/r in June 2004, discharged Dec 2004. Got a Vanquis Card in Oct 2006 & Credit limit slowly raised to £2K, paid off in full every month until last month. This is because we have got back on the property ladder (mort with Chelsea) & moved in May 17th this year and had lots of expenditure, Prop bought for £152K and put down £22k dep.

My question is .... is there any chance of being accepted by another cc with lower apr etc than Vanquis, did try with our bank (Natwest) after cashiers kept saying we would be OK, seeing as our accounts are/have been run really well for 2 years+ but a resounding big fat No.

Sorry for the long post any help/advice greatly appreciated.

    Susieh

    Hi Susieh

Probably be bit tough to get a mainstream card until your BRO is no longer showing on your Credit files which would be around June 2010. Cap1 one might be worth a try but there initial credit limit would more than likely be to low for what you want to do which I take it is a balance transfer.

Congrats on the mortgage and house:T you are were I want to be in about 18 months time.

Just out of interest what sort of account do you have with Natwest, Step Account?

question guys,, iam unemployed through ill health have MS,, I am on low arranged payment too my debtors,, but I have a cap 1 credit card which I use sensibly and pay,, question is I have no CCJ or anything like this against me Capp 1 increased my limit so am I right in assuming my credit rating cant b tht bad,, The reason i am asking this is we need a new fridge freezer and if the intrest rate they offer on credit is better than Cap 1 I know wot 1 tht I will b taking

    Hi Colin13

Difficult one to answer as you’ve managed your account well with Cap1 and had increase’s in your limit in there eyes internally you are a regular steady customer.

But I not sure here, if you have arranged payments with other lenders I might be wrong but I think that will show on your CRF’s and would be looked on in a negative way. Best thing to do is before you try to apply for any type of finance is order up your credit files and have a look mate.

Darcy I was like you unable to get even a subprime card, every few months I would try cap1 and finally got a yes last week after sending id off them, I got the credit agreement saturday so just waiting for the card to rebuild, rebuild, rebuild. Still can not get a catauloge account though and not yet tried for another sub prime card. I will use cap1 for my shopping and pay it off each month and then when theres some healthy green zeros showing I will try again. You will get one eventually, hang in there your on the right path its now just a waiting game unfortunately x

If anyone has Virgin Media if you keep your account a pound in credit they also report green zeros to your experian file :)
