Good morning everybody, working from home again today, how are you all?

    Good morning all
  • Hi, don't know if anyone can help me. I had debts of around 15k but have paid all off now, except two which will be paid off in a few months. (there balances are under 2,000 combined). Does anyone know how long it takes for the companies to report to credit reference agencies and how long I should wait before applying for credit. I want a full bank account as only have basic with natwest, but was refused by barclays four months ago months ago. I have an aqua cc, but am fed up with the high interest rate, although I pay it off in full every month.

I have checked my credit report with Experian and Equifax, and it still shows the balances.

  • It will take about 2-3 months for balances to show as settled on your credit file and if they do not show up after this period of time I would contact the companies to ask them to update your credit file.

Why were you turned down by barcalys bank do you have defaults or CCJS on your credit file.

I think you should try HSBC because I had defaults on my credit file and they gave me a full bank account.
  • Thanks for your advice.

I have two defaults on my experian credit report, and one satisfied CCJ from two years ago. When I went into Barclays, they did the credit check and only offered me there basic account.

Barclays made me feel like i had some kind of disease after the credit check, and it has made me reluctant to apply for anything. I understand they have to do the check and I know I was stupid for getting into debt but I don't want to be punished forever.

Financial institutions seem to have this attitude that they are superior and above everybody else, it stinks as I have been in your situation and felt that same feeling, now I am in a position to tell the bank to shove it if I don't get what I want. ;)

I just want to feel like a normal person when I apply for a bank account.

  • Now I have been approved for FlyBe card I am thinking of taking advantage of their 6 month 0% BT. I know there is a 3% fee but would like to transfer my Aqua and Vanquis balances.

Has anyone done a BT with FlyBe and did it all go smoothly? How long does it take for the BT to go from the original CC and show on the new CC?

I know the importance of not spending on it after the transfer.

Sorry for all the questions...first timer with BT.

    Any help/advice appreciated;)

Well, after the adverse data dropped off my credit files it took me about 3 month to get a basic current account minus any overdraft facility, got a couple of credit cards and then eventually a loan and a full current account with overdraft, all in all about 12-18 month.
How long have you got to go before the bad data is cleared of your credit files?

  • Unfortuntely about 4 years before CCJ, although it is satisfied. I think about a year before the defaults, although Equifax is not showing the defaults on my report. Think I might see which banks use Equifax and try them.
