Yup, twice. Once through the till (theres a refund code for overcharges) and then again in more detail (usually when you've left) on a computerised system, thats used by both the store daily and head office.
And the overcharge policy has been there all the time I remember, but they have changed it recently to stop the checkouts abuse - it now states that you get a refund and to keep the item if the price on the shelf or product is incorrect.
It used to be if we overcharged you at all (including incorrect PLUs used at checkouts, double scans and 'reduction' [reduced to clear] errors), but now its just price on shelf/productYes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. I'm never asked to price check when I mystery shop.
So can I safely assume that you moan to billyo in Sainsbury and all the other supermarkets who don't have r+r when you have a 5p misprice in their shops too? Or would you still complain so loudly if Tesco removed R+R?
I know I would, but as OH says, quite kindly, I'm bolshy. (He even said it sleeptalking to me once. 1 in 3 people he quoted to me were bolshy that night:rotfl: )
I'd quite like to see you in action!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Getting the item refunded is one thing but then getting a refund again becuse the CS staff forget to write "Refunded" on your receipt is both morally wrong and is deception! No one should do this! Swapping it for another item is okay though as this is also a Tesco policy (you have 28 days). That's how I ended up getting my £499 PC for free because it was mispriced at £349.93.
Pressed wrong button before meant to quote. Have a free thanks to go with the PC. :rotfl:
Anyway, I can't see the difference here, its Tescos policy to exchange or refund an item, as per stated policy on board.
I still think that from a absolute legal perspective, forgetting abouts moral issues, etc, the area of refunding an item for cash after an overcharge is a grey area. From a moral standpoint everyones entitled to their own views.
Let's take this as an example, get home with PC, go for celebration booze up, come back PC's been nicked, what are you going to claim from the insurance, nothing as it cost nothing ? Or the amount to replace the item, if asked for proof of the items cost you will only have your receipt, which says refunded, are you pulling a fast one says MR INSURANCE PERSON.
Also if you go back to Tescos with your PC for whatever reason, are they going to call out the police, as the receipt in your possession clearly says that's its been Refunded, so what's the PC your lugging about.
In my view the receipt should be noted as OVERCHARGED, not refunded, as a normal refund is totally different (ie you are left with no product). In the case of overcharge Tescos still do have some legal responsbility that is unquestionable (sale of goods act, etc) to you for the product, while in the latter case they don't.
In my view by putting refunded on the item they are allowing themselves to say, well you can't bring that back because you've already brought it back, thus if it were ever seriously challenged in law they'd have this as a fall back position, as it would be difficult to prove you had not actually RETURNED A PRODUCT AND OBTAINED A REFUND.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.0 -
My local Tesco write "O/C REF" on the receipt, which makes it quite clear. Not sure what I think about the second refund, personally. I do know I wouldn't try it myself though.

is it the same as the one on the tesco web site at £488, if so, what are the chances of buying it on there and the box being marked at £349 as per stores?
Any thoughts0 -

No, but I bet if you were overcharged on the item you bought you would let off steam about it on the "any other comments" section of the report, I know I would. It would have an extremely negative effect on my impression of the store, unless they corrected the error politely and quickly (for example by following r&r without arguing or humiliating you or making you feel like you are doing something wrong, which seems to be tescos habit).0 -

What about Merchantable Quality? The item must be fit for the purpose it was sold, surely0 -
Need Help again!
I forgot to mention a few other things with PC, but anyway it turns out it was a hardware Fault, so he's given me a Ref. No. to return it to Mr.T's.
They don't have the same PC in store though!
Although i was overcharged and on my till receipt it says £446 and the product should have been £349.93, what price am i entitled to exchange for?
Thanks0
