Getting the item refunded is one thing but then getting a refund again becuse the CS staff forget to write "Refunded" on your receipt is both morally wrong and is deception! No one should do this! Swapping it for another item is okay though as this is also a Tesco policy (you have 28 days). That's how I ended up getting my £499 PC for free because it was mispriced at £349.93.
I respect your opinion Martini, however I do not agree.
I don't know why people get so het up over accepting cash from Tesco because of their sloppy practices yet will quite happily accept food, CD's, DVD's, Financial products (Insurance) or even a PC.
Surely whether I receive goods to the value or cash - it's all the same to Tesco. If I receive cash for a returned item which was given to me by Tesco because of their error, then they will sell that item on and receive cash for it. Isnt it all swings and roundabouts?
I certainly dont see why accepting their cash is wrong but accepting their PC is ok?
I personally will accept anything they give me!!!
I dont see how it can be deception either..I have twice taken an overcharged item along with receipt to CS and simply said I dont want this product anymore can I have a refund? They could always say no if they wanted too!
I think Bylromarha sums it up well...bylromarha wrote:I know some people are crossing my line of acceptability. Other people have different lines, but it is Tesco's job to tighten this policy up to stop those who are freeloading, not MSE's.
People have differing lines of acceptability...I guess mine is further along than a few other posters but I won't criticise or judge others whose lines are even further along the scale than mine.
As long as it's legal then I am happy...so is my DVD collection...so is my purse.

P.S Please dont all jump on me! It's just my opinion :rolleyes:0 -

did it have 'refunded' written on your receipt when you took your two items back, if so, then your right, they could always say no if they wanted too.0 -
Abijanzo and Parsnips,
You are of course both correct.
If you are returning the product and getting the refund (after first getting the overcharge refund) that is okay as long as it's okay with them.
It's when people go back for another overcharge refund after they have already got one that I'm really on about!Keep SmilingSite member number 24

Oh, I see what you mean.
Personally I would view that as theft as you would have taken the money without their consent wouldnt you.0 -

Let's be very clear here. Mispricing policy is something which is set down by the store for the consumer to use. Theoretically, every consumer in the UK has a right to be covered by that policy. Therefore, if people use MSE as an information tool to pass on information, that is what this site exists for.
It is the retail outlet's responsibility to ensure that their prices are correct. For everyone that uses MSE to take advantage of this policy, think of all the people who simply accept the misprice at the till because they are too worried to complain.
We have never, and will never, advocate doing anything illegal. The ethos of this site is to make more people savvy consumers and using a retail store's own policy to save us some money is neither illegal nor shady. Now, morally how the individual feels about taking this opportunity is purely up to that person. As far as MSE is concerned, this isnt a moral issue, it is one of consumer rights and taking advantage of what we can to save us some money.
The bottom line is that if you don't agree or like what is being suggested, don't do it. That is entirely your perogative and we respect your opinion. For the rest however, this is an entirely legitmate way to save money based on a legal, clear retail policy.
My sentiments also and nice to see it officially stated.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Listen guys,we have had many folk on here finding mis prices and getting R & R.Mr T's "loverly" c.s. staff are aware of the offending mis price from the moment they refund.Sometimes they remove the label (s e l ) only for the next shift to arrive and see its missing only to replace it and then the R & R cycl;e strats all over again.
My point is that it really doesn't matter about naming stores and worrying about alerting them as we actually take them to the blooming misprice and point it out to them in person !!!!
THANKS TO THEIR GREED AND TOTAL DISRESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS LONG WILL IT CONTINUE !!!!Onwards and Upwards0 -

It would seem to me that some moral high-horses have questionable pedigrees.0 -

100% AGREE. As OH says we are acting as both mystery shoppers, and a voice [or he says rather unkindly in my case a foghorn] for all those who for one reason or another can't or won't complain.0 -

Hehehe, I never let anyone get away with this. I know the CS people in our store use 2 letters to note on a receipt whats been done with an item - so if someone tried to return an item with the receipt, and they'd had a overcharge refund, we'd always say no, because the item never techincally was paid for.
If you return an item without a receipt, you'd get a grilling and a no, but sometimes an exchange or possibly vouchers at a push.
There is no law to accept goods back (unless faulty), so therefore it never happens thereYes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.0
