--Tony-- wrote:Because the only price displayed was £13.99 and the end date is so tiny they can't reasonably expect people to go around the store checking if an offer is still running or not. I dont think many people would go up to each offer and check the end date just in case Tesco have not done their job and removed old SEL's
I have had 2 R & R's like this one was kitkats the other Barbie dolls. In both cases CS said sorry although the offers had ended it was their error that the signege was still on dislpay. Perhaps it was because it was an expensive item and you got a few, also just a thought but has that particular store been smacked for Pc's over the weekend.0 -
I read about 4 years an article about a family who shopped at Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's used to have the same policy. They just got their normal shopping then would notice the next week that things hadn't been corrected. They would then take advantage of it and buy non-perishable goods and give them to charity raffles. They were often doing £1000 shops each week.
The store manager took them to one side and asked them to stop. They said that they had pointed out all of the mistakes before and that they could point out mistakes in return for some gift vouchers. They pointed out a couple of hundred mistakes. Less than 2% were corrected so they continued with the big shops. They were barred soon after.0 -
Thanks nannaC, I think your right its the cost 6 x £18.99 but I always buy wines in 6's so you get the extra 10% off.
They don't have PC's in this store as its not large enough, maybe if they did and had been hit by those who got PC's they would not have found my bottles such a big deal..0 -

But it can't be the cost as my travel insurance cost more than than your champers!
Grrr to Tesco for upping the wine discount from 5% to 10%. Makes me buy wine even more frequently than I did. I'm a sucker for these marketing ploys, more fool me.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

bylromarha - my thoughts exactly, that exact it could almost have been me typing it!
And where exactly do these people stop in their lone crusade to 'teach Tescos a lesson' by just blatantly setting out to fleece them? Tampering with Labels? Moving sale labels to put them back when the offers off to claim they are mispriced? Makes you wonder how far people would be willing to go in order to do a bit of 'moneysaving'DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society

I have not seen anyone suggest the sorts of thing you talk of.
And fleece tesco's? Your words not mine, you did not mind going around three stores hunting out a £450 mis price?seanparkin wrote:Well.
I've been to leyland, southport, and ormskirk.

yeah,
top marks to all the clever people who have found tips and loopholes that make MSE such an interesting and sometime rewarding place to visit
i don't want to be a party pooper, but on past form I see some people going in exactly this direction.
because in my time as an MSE lurker, my jaw has dropped having seen some of the activity which has gone on, pushing moneysaving opportunities further and further until they become fraudulent moneymaking opportunities,
the tesco thing has been fun for people to take advantage of, but there is a line to be drawn.
if it is abused, criminally, the credibility of MSE is at stake. it only takes a few. no newspaper will do a story on the thousands of clever but ultimately boring everyday MSE activity. however if a couple of people perpetuate something criminally audacious, then the media story would be "internet site advises member how to steal/rip off", overshadowing all the good clean fun.
it might only take a few MSEers to push something into a situation
MSE sometimes sails close to the wind, near to the line. it needs to be whiter than white to ensure that credibility is maintained. it's important0 -

Debate about the policy is always welcome IMO. I always try to reread my posts to check, whilst statng my opinion, that I don't offend anyone as that is not my intention...debate is. It leaves you in a strong position if they become offensive for one thing!
I agree. it is a discussion area after all...I just felt that a couple of posters were ganging up on -Tony- and getting too personal by referring to his previous posts. Thats why I said it's not very nice
My point of view from my limited recent experience is that some stores take notice of overcharges once pointed out, and others dont seem to care at all.
Personally I think my taking advantage of r&r does make a small difference sometimes and rectifies the stickers/SEL's at least on a local level, but certainly not always.
I would take advantage of this policy whether it made a difference or not, but at least I'm honest enough to admit it! I just like free stuff!!!
I do get indignant about the number of overcharged products that appear every week without fail though...and I do think it's unfair that a company that makes 9 million in profit can't get their prices right nor correct them even when their errors are pointed out time and again.
I apologise if I've offended anyone today, I just don't like people being ganged up on and it appeared to me that that's what was beginning to happen. No hard feelings anyone I hope0 -
Is it true that tesco changed the pricing policy 2 months ago. I just did my shopping and bought 2 cd where I was overcharged nearly by at least £3 on each one. they only wanted to refund the difference.0
