hi Ben,
less than a percent ? is it really that bad for over charges in tesco then ?
Start checking your till receipt more closely and keeping an eye on promotion end dates and overlap, look at dump bins and end gondola's offering bargains and two for xx etc these are the most frequent overcharged items, you will see from the threads that more and more people are coming back and posting that they have scanned items out of curiosity merely because they were being promoted only to discover their suspicions correct and the items overcharging, this is because of the lack of instore checking in many cases, Tesco for instance have what is called a four point check that is supposed to be performed each time stock is replenished, in practice it is seldom carried out, these checks are in place to ensure price integrity and it goes without saying that if they are not carried out misprices will occur, I don't know about you but I frequent many Tesco stores and have seen a distinct increase in the amount of people carrying out the checks specifically in the last two weeks, the members of this forum can pat themselves on the back for being responsible for this due to r&r and finally putting Tesco's policy to the test, and their promise to get things right which quite frankly they have paid very little attention to in the past apart from lip service and promotional typespace. Tesco is changing its approach and attitude towards pricing integrity and instore housekeeping as a direct result of being stung for a few pennies here and there throughout the country since these threads were introduced, THEY COULD HAVE DONE IT YEARS AGO! But then again it wasn't costing them anything or damaging their reputation when all were walking blindly by the signs and trundling towards the tills in their eagerness to get robbed!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Here is a new scenario, 2 weeks ago had refund in store for several mispriced items, acting CS not happy at all, as obstructive as possible, phoned HQ the next day, gave them details obviosuly gave store a good kick up the backside.
Went in tonight expecting things to be much improved, they recognised me when I walked in and could sense that CS (not real one just a night-shift make-do one), security, etc were following my every move. Un-detterred went to meat aisle, had check and meat wrong pork joints and beef joints, 2.18kg SEL 2.65kg on pack, and 5.78 kg SEL 6.24kg on pack, got a dido CD SEL 6.97 chart 4.79 scanned £4.79, put couple of each in trolley with some other bits and bobs, went to checkout, expecting some aggro, I was not disappointed, CS(acting) replaced person on checkout, scanned items then proceeded out of seat to go and check the SELs as I waited at the checkout, told woman next to her to get manager down, she came back with SEL's and then asked for the cash, told her to get the manager fast. Assistant mgr came down, is it common policy to have your checkout person go round stores collecting SELs, your abusing the policy, I have had 1 refund which you obviously did not like (security guard hoovering by now) in this store when you had (and still have) multiple items significantly wrong, do you know that your breaking the law, I know we are breaking the law, anyway the upshot of this was that he refused to sell the product at the SEL price and the CS had the SEL's in her hand, you can have it at the product pack price, you are in infringement of the law, his reply was I am not bothered, I wish to buy the product at the SEL price I said, NO he said, I am not going to sell them at the SEL price, YOU ARE DELIBERATELY TRYING TO OVERCHARGE ME and get away with it because your CS has the SELs in her hand, your not going to have these products free for an overcharge/undercharge, pointed out undercharging long since gone. Anyway after some going round in circles for a while, the result was I purchased nothing.
THE GUY SIMPLY DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TESCO's VOLUNTARY POLICY AND THE LAW, the law is very clear I have illustrated it below and it is total separate from TESCO's GET OUT OF PROSECUTION POLICY.
Here is a quote from ADVANCED BUSINESS LAW, Smith & Keenan, standard law text for post-gradute/undergraduate law students.
'Although a trader can refuse to sell at his wrongly advertised price he may find himself facing prosecution under SS20 and SS21 of the consumer protection act where the price ticket shows a lower price than that at which he is prepared to sell.' (edit 'Actually taken from the judges summing up notes in case').
In layman terms the assistant manager better start looking for a new job because after I have finished with HQ on Friday 14 October he is going to need it. The only person who scr*ws me is Mrs !!!!!! Dastardly :rotfl:Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

...
!!!!!!,
I can't believe how badly some CS staff are reacting to our pointing out their store's misprices. I have to say that this is not always my experience and that the majority of people I have dealt with have been really good.
The behaviour of some of them is hardly likely to enhance the customer experience at Tesco and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. It makes me even more determined to have as much free stuff out of the worst offenders.
I have been quite shocked by the number of items that have been mispriced and I hope that MSErs taking advantage of the overcharge policy in large numbers might encourage Mr T to check prices a bit more carefully. All Mr T's customers should benefit from our efforts by not getting overcharged so often.
I hope you manage to resolve your grievance with Mr T's HQ today and get an apology (at the very least) from the CS staff.

Thats right Ben have never seen so many members of staff with hand scanners around the aisles. even saw a Junior manegment team checking the Electrical goods and CD/DVD's yesterday,[they still missed at least 2 cd's though]. As posted cheese [this has been wrong for more than a month now] and Mackrel are still overpriced at at least 3 stores, so I guess we can continue to point out the error of their ways for some time yet.0 -
