Well the point is, with all these pda's around is there a scanner that will read the price of a Tesco barcode so as we could go on a misprice spree. Not the product code, just the price end of the barcode. Comeon you computer geeks this is right up your street.
WOW, my imagination is now going into overdrive, imagine, privately scanning everything you please without drawing attention to yourself, you know, keep going to the self scan kind of makes me paranoid.
But the barcode is just a machine readable code - on its own it does not tell you the price. You would need to run the code through the Tesco computer to match it with the current price.0 -
Can someone clarify the CD misprice situation: i.e. Top 20/40 poster etc states "Chart CD's from £9.77" but only shows individual prices for titles which are more or less than this price. So if SEL says i.e. £13.97, but this isn't indicated on the chart poster, is there hope? Or does the word "FROM" £9.77 cover them?0

The word 'FROM' covers them, since they are saying that 'some' cd's are that price, but not all.0

OK - I'm completely lost with this CD misprice thread. Can Someone clarify what's being said here.
If there's a poster saying "Top 20/40 FROM £9.77" are you saying that you would expect ALL products WITHOUT a corresponding SEL to be £9.77 and that if you're charged more then you've been overcharged?0 -

Not really. On the poster, there are some cds that have a different price next to them, ie £6.97 or £5.97.
Occasionally, the corresponding cd on the shelf will have a higher shelf edge price and will scan at that price. The price on the poster is an advertised price hence you've been overcharged.
Another situation is where the cds have a sticker on them that is lower than the shelf price.
No guarantee that they WILL scan at the higher price as the store may have altered the computer - best to try and find a price check scan point to try to check for yourself.0 -

Thanks Wallace, not well up on this stuff, just an idea.0 -
Mission Failed....
Went to tesco today with a idea of what to look for. Spent about 30mins in the DVD / CD section looking for a few items that people had spotted before, but nothing found. Many CD's and DVD's have had the price removed from them. The ones with prices were found to be ok. I found a Damnbusters DVD priced at £10.97 with the shelf at £8.97. Could not find a wall mounted scanner so had to go to a person. The desk i went to i think was the Customer Services, its a small Tesco in Hartlepool. Mentioned that the prices were incorrect when she told me they were £8.97 as per shelf price. Seen a Sister Sister DVD which was 2p difference between shelf and price tag, same again. Shelf price was right. Can really complain about things being cheap now can we.
Alls i really gained from this trip was a sore left knee. Took the gf and the 3 kids shopping, only wanted a small number of things so the gf went for passport photo's then once they found me in the shop i had no chance of finding anything else. Had a 3yr old in the trolley, and another one hanging off, so thats where the sore knee come from. Guess i was turning with me knee's if you know what i mean.
Think the staff thought i was a thief by the amount of time i spent in the shop. Will go back to Billingham later as that place is bigger.
Im gonna have a read up, tho we think we need a list of items per day that have been picked up. Think tesco have been updating the stock daily around here as everything appears to be ok. Think this offer has come to an end.0
