faevilangel. Sure, but why would the buyer want to do that? Even if I witnessed the refund, I'd be very wary that such a seller was exploiting some loophole or other to grab two payments. Not everyone is an expert on PayPal.

Has anyone seen any hard report of a strategic business change at eBay? It's just that every time I look at a board there's another change that seems to be trying to actively move eBay away from the car boot sale market. That doesn't make sense to me - surely even if you want to focus on the business side, you might as well collect fees from private sellers whilst you're at it.

Just tried to list an item and accepting paypal is still optional.

here an idea for collection

buyer pays via paypal, buyer picks up item & pays cash, seller refunds paypal money

    would that work ?>
Ive done that before for a £3 item, I just refunded and said it was cash on collection. Otherwise you might aswell just give it away as it was it was hardly worth it .

The pinks are still denying that on the ebay forums, did you see this link or did someone else tell you about it.

If ebay have backtracked over this then there is hope for us all and I might not feel so despondent about the whole ebay thing.

It was on an Ebay questionnaire, mostly about Paypal.

So shall I be all despondent again?

This is a direct quote from a pink on the forum today:
Sellers who offer in-person pick-up will not be protected in the frankly unlikely event of a buyer paying with PayPal, coming to collect the item and then deciding to charge back their payment afterwards. Please bear this in mind when deciding whether to list items as in-person pick-up. We are considering whether to offer sellers protection here too, but it would require some fundamental changes to our PP seller protection policies and processes, so nothing is likely to change any time soon.

I also thought this was interesting:
We're aware that some sellers are offering PayPal and then strongly discouraging their buyers from paying with it. We believe that this is contrary to the spirit of this change, and removes the buyer's choice to have purchase protection, so we'll be introducing a specific policy to ban this practice later this month. Sellers who persist in doing it can expect to be removed from the site.

I wonder what little goodie they have planned to stop that then.

It also says that all items must now have paypal enabled, but I still can't work out if that applies to stuff already listed as when they were listed they would have complied with the policy at the point of listing.

    I think so.

I imagine there is nothing at all to stop people putting "Cash Only for Collection", but it would be treated the same as "I always get proof of posting".

Given you have to offer Paypal you have very little choice in accepting it if that's how people pay.

Sorry I'll stopposting in a moment I promise but this sort of thing bugs me. It looks like it is OK to let existing listings finish even if they don't have paypal enabled, but all future listings as from this morning must have paypal otherwise they can be reported and pulled and a warning given.

At least that is the consensus of opinion.

    Ebay state:

Forcing Payapl to be offered is good for buyers and
There is no problem with Payapl for collection.

So why is the motor category exempt?
