You shouldn't accept paypal for collection always Cash on Delivery as you could have your buyer (the dishonest ones)state they never received the item, also you could lose out as you will have no proof to say they have actually collected the item they bought.

This is the problem though that were are discussing. At the moment we all sensibly have cash only on collected items, but when paypal is required on all listings, even those that are collection only, we could either face a malicious chargeback or a non performing seller complaint if we refuse a paypal payment.

I have e-mailed Customer Support at ebay for a reply to "save" for when a chargeback may happen. All I got was a long list of reasons why Paypal was offered to protect the buyer. I have requested again a reply to how they wished to protect the SELLER - and....no reply!!! What a surprise!

webbie, they just refuse to see paypal on collected items as a problem. The pinks just say that there is no evidence that this has ever been a problem, what they fail to understand is that it hasn't been a problem up till now as only naive sellers would allow paypal on collected items. Therefore if the majority of sellers were bright enough not to offer it then it must follow that there have been few problems until now.

That's correct, you will no longer be able to list anything on ebay from June the something or other (forgot the actual date).

    You can still buy though.

I agree totally Premier, however it's a lot cheaper to risk my listing being pulled than it is risk my Paypal payment being reclaimed! I'm selling a lot of collection only items over the next few months due to big home improvements and a clear out - if they pull my listings, I'll revert back to a postcard in the newsagent's window - and Ebay will lose their fees - and I bet I wouldn't be the only one!

Absolutely, but as I've said before:

    "Their gaff, their rules."

If you don't agree with their rules, feel free to set up your own site in competition of use an already established competitor - I'm sure your local newsagent will more than welcome the extra business. But you can't use ebay and make up your own rules just because you don't agree with theirs.

Also make sure you are not cutting off your nose to spite your face. eBay has a much greater potential market audience than all its competitors (one of its major attractions) and a greater market audience means a greater chance of selling an item at a higher price outweighing the extra cost of marketing (ebay/paypal fees).
