Bras are one thing I've always made sure my daughter has had, infact she's got more than me! My mother would never buy me one as I was too "flat-chested", yes I admit I didn't have much on top but I found it embarassing when we were getting changed for PE and I either had nothing on or a vest and the other girls had bras. In the end my best friend gave me one of her old trainer bras and then I saved my pocket money up to buy my own.

I swore then if I ever had a daughter she could have as many bras as she wanted! She was a late developer so started off with a bra-top (like a cut-off vest) when her friends started wearing bras, then moved onto trainer bras when she started to develop and now she wears normal bras.

She currently wears crop type style bras at the mo :o

My mom actually told me i needed a bra, i didnt want one! i guess i didnt want to admit i was growing up :o

    Ermmm no....Everyone is different!

Some people pee every 15mins.....how many changes a day would that be?!

Anyway.....the book for my daughter arrived today!!

It's was quickly put away for a few more years!!

Lolol it is far too detailed...goes into STD'S, HIV etc...far too much info for a little girl just turned 9!

Researched again and found this book:
READY, SET, GROW! ("What's Happening to My Body?") - For younger girls.

Same authors, similar stuff just watered down for younger girls. I don't know why I didn't spot this one first time I looked!

So anyone looking for a suitable book for very young girls, be careful...make sure you get the correct one. Not like me lol!

    X

I got my book today as well and totally agree with you, no way is my daughter reading that book yet, however, there will be a time when she will be given it but not at the age of 10

thanks for the tip about the other book, I will go and order it now

When I started the night before my 12th birthday my mum was all flustered and produced and enormous ST with loops either end and an elasticated belt  I've slept on mattresses that are thinner :rotfl: Thank goodness for the small, discreet protection around these days.

haha same with my mother, I was probably about 13 and told my mother, from behind the toilet door that I had started my periods, she silently hands me a massive pad with loops, elasticated belt AND some bloomin' plastic/rubber overpants.... I remember wearing them to school and hearing them crinkle/crunch as I walked. God the shame..

my mother is 77 now, I'm 38, so I suppose she was of that era, that such things weren't talked about..

my 11 year old daughter has got a sore lump directly under her nipple...I am assuming this is normal, after reading this thread.. I made an appt with the doc for a couple of weeks (thats how long it takes around here) just to be on the safe side.
