OK, he's still in bed, hasn't been up at all yet today. And he's there on his own (as far as I can tell).

I'm heading out at 6pm - do you reckon I should knock on his door?

I doubt you'll get a coherent rational conversation from him if you've just woken him up and he's not dressed.

His Blackberry's been buzzing away all morning and the floorboards creak on occasion, so I'm sure he's awake. I've just texted:
Hey - I'm heading out at 6, any chance we can talk beforehand? x

No wonder the house is boiling! Upstairs (where the thermostat is) is absolutely freezing! I've just closed the bathroom window but I can feel an icy draft coming through his bedroom door.

Is it 'on' to unlock his door and shut the window in there??

Actually yes you can go in there. Lodgers do not have exclusivity over any part of your house, so you can go in to close the window.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

I got fed up of waiting for a reply, so I just knocked gently on the door. No reply there either :( He could be avoiding me or he could have his headphones on.

I've left his hats outside the bedroom door for him - should cheer him up and get him to talk to me (hopefully tonight if he's here when I get back - I don't want to hang onto this any longer!)

    Hi Badger

I think he knew you were not in, and has probably guessed what is about to happen.

Be ready fo plenty of lame excuses and a sob story.
