Aww, B_L, really sorry to hear about your job.
Having read your thread you come across as conscientious and well organised and a great people person. Such excellent qualities!
What kind of work do you do?
Perhaps your fan club here can network on your behalf?
Are you on LinkedIn?0 -

Haven't checked in with your thread (or in fact MSE) for an age BL, have only skim read but hope things look up on the job front very soon. I've had the same issues as you with the Monday to Friday site but as someone else said spareroom.co.uk has been brilliant I've had several good people from there and something I found last time was if you pay the weeks fee for bold or something (which is not an unreasonable amount of money but I can't remember exactly how much) then you can sort through the wanted ads and contact anyone looking for a room. So as I wanted a monday to friday person who was looking for my area I filtered for monday to friday and hammersmith and I found loads of people and I contacted each of them individually with the details of my flat. Several of the people I mailed specifically got back in touch and last time one of them moved in. That way you are targetting the people who sound right to you rather than being at the whim of the people looking. Worked brilliantly for me anyway, my current Monday to Friday lodger is lovely. Though I'm afraid she loves my cat so much that if she leaves she might catnap her (only kidding
).

To the person who asked who it was who the female lodger was who nicked the keys. There was another posters lodger who stole the BFs keys when he left them on the step.
Heh this was me, I think, unless it also happened to someone else.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -
I've been a lurker reader for a while and I've joined your FB group. I second spareroom.co.uk - they are also linked into google maps, so if you search through google say "property to let LS7 1HH" then click through to maps, you get spareroom.co.uk listings. I think it's pretty cool but then I am a geek0

My friend visited somebody who was sharing accommodation provided by their employer (pub). He turned up, put his keys down in his mate's room.... another person living there stole the keys, took the car and left it abandoned in a ditch. Friend ended up being convinced to lie to say he was driving is at the time, so he could claim insurance, took an expensive train back home a few hundred miles, was promised his friend/the scally would pay halves each .... and he's never had a penny.0

Sorry to hear about your redundancy BadgerLady..I hope you find something else soon.
Definitely use LinkedIn..update your profile to the first person and say how brilliant you are. Use your contacts and your contacts contacts to find a job and a new lodger.
Join a few groups on there because that is where folks tend to advertise jobs too.

From m'blog:
In 5 easy steps:
1. Go to google maps.
2. Type in the town, postcode or area you are interested in.
3. In the top right-hand corner, find the "More" button.
4. Click "More" and select "Properties".
5. In the left-hand pane, twiddle with the controls to set your criteria.
Enjoy!0
