maybe we could invent some pretend drama to talk about? Lets just gossip.
*whisper* "OOh you know that Badger Lady, I could tell you some right stories about her..."
    Nope. It's not the same.
    Come back CRAYZEE lodgers!

  • Quackers doesn't know much yet - it's too early to tell. She's suffering terribly though, poor girl :(

Well I've only been going home on average twice a week lately! I seem to be constantly skipping off to West Wales, London, Cardiff... it's all go  But I have re-hired our old cleaner which is nice, and I'm on a short waiting list for an allotment nearby.

I did start thinking through some of our house problems the other day and they really are mounting:
    - Plumbing - I have 3 different types of drip, one of which has been known to progress into a waterfall. We've therefore switched off the constant hot water supply, and instead just switch it on when we need to take a bath.

    - Cooker - we haven't had one for months. Well, it's sat on top of the work surface doing nothing. I installed it myself but the fuse blew and needs rewiring. Which leads me to:

    - Electrics - the house was last rewired in 1972 and some of the (sparse) plug sockets aren't earthed properly.

    - Shower - nope, don't have one. And only 1 toilet in a three-storey house.

    Not doing too well overall!

You don't have a shower, whereas I have a huge walk in shower still boxed that I never used and never sold .... at least your situation isn't dead money!! :o

Do you have a circuit breaker on the electrics?

  • Errrrr... I don't know! I've got the old rewirable fusebox (rather than switches). Is that the same thing?

With literally fuses as you would have in a plug? Do the electrics 'trip' out when they detect something they don't like? I don't know whether you'd find an electrician who was willing to put one on an older system but you might, it wouldn't be a waste as it could be reused when you have the full rewire done.

  • Yeah, you've lost me dude! My Dad's sent me a link to one I can replace it with, which has a switch rather than a rewire. I'm going to use that :)

Went home last night and saw Quackers very briefly - all is still well. I've got friends who are doing a charity walk next week and need a bed for the night, so I've offered them the spare room and Narnia... sadly I won't be there :(

If it's in Narnia, would it not be "Spare 'Oom"? ;)

:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

  • Good point! But the "spare room" is on a completely different floor  In this case Narnia is accessed through "Poled Ancingstu Dio".

don't do the distribution board yourself, get an electrician in, its dangerous and plus illegal now I think to do any works on your own bar a few things like changing a socket.
