What you described is a differant scenario and maybe I should have put on a friday night that reasonable music at 8.20pm is acceptable even if the neighbours can hear it...
I would also hazard a guess that as you put emotional stress that its not just a noise problem with your neighbours?

Hi Will,
You're right, Friday night is fine, and your last paragraph is right too. Because of my own issues I get so angry at noisy neighbour/lodger threads. Time to back off and take a deep breath I feel. Thanks.Pants0 -

I just had a lovely chat with Quackers and she made me feel much better. I didn't specifically criticise her cleaning, I just said "this place is such a shithole lately" - I think she got that message
.
So I think I'm going to leave NiceSoFar's room empty for now while I get a plumber in to fix the various issues we're having - the hot water tank is in that room and has apparently been dripping lately, so convenient moment methinks.
I'm also going to look into moving the chickens next door (the old lady there has commented how unhappy she is to see them locked up for days at a time when I'm away, and she does want some of her own). Quackers in the meantime is determined to play with the chooks and prove that they should stay!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Jams, I just haven't had time! Honestly, my schedule's crazy - in Bristol one night, London the next, Cardiff the next... I haven't had a weekend off since I had flu, and almost never spend time on my own any more. Which is great! But it means less reflection on writing a TV show that may never come to anything.
Even Narnia's taken a back seat!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Sorry to hear Nicesofar is leaving but as he's complaining about the chooks well good riddance. Just a thought but what do you use in their run? I use sundown yellow horse bedding but there are other makes such as aubiose & hemcore. They help to neutralise the smell and are very absorbant. Could you move them further down the garden? Just a couple of thoughts. I'd hate to see your feathered lodgers forced to move even if it is only next door.0

The chooks are right at the bottom of the garden, but it's only a wee little garden. They have a large run when I'm home, which is just plain dirt and weeds! But recently they spend most of their time in the built-in house/run with plain straw bedding (which gets popped in the compost bin every week or so).
I do feel guilty for keeping them in so much - I'm worried that maybe I do spend too much time away from home, leaving them to fend for themselves. Egg production is way down at the moment... if I did send them next door, they'd still be close enough but I'd basically have someone to look after them 24/7!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Hmmm... well today was cleaning day (a day late mind) and I really hope she hasn't finished... has basically done her own washing up plus clean the kitchen floor. There's an odd mess on the kitchen worksurface that hasn't been cleaned, the bathroom's still filthy and the vacuum cleaner's still plugged in my bedroom where I left it. Let alone things like bannisters and skirting rails that the old cleaner used to do
On the plus side, Narnia is now in situ! Tested it out on Quackers' boyfriend who asked me why I was hiding inside a cupboard and weren't the two of us a bit cosy in there? He was very impressed to crawl through and see what was on the other side!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
