Hey-hey!
Just been called for a chat with NiceSoFarLodger and he's announced that he's moving out of Big Badger House this saturday coming.
What to do next?
Well, the house is filthy. I'm soooo fed up of it, coming back from my frequent trips away to find everything in a mess again... and I have a really poor sense of smell but there's one in here right nowI REALLY want to start bring the professional cleaners in again, but how to I break the news to QuackersLodger that her rent's going back up? And, by the way, she's now 3 weeks behind on the rent due to Housing Benefit issues
NiceSoFarLodger has also cited "animal mess" as a reason for wanting to move out, claiming he can smell the chickens up in his bedroom... so what's the best way to handle that? Is there any chance of getting a new lodger in even if I want one?
Sooo many questions!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

OK, I've now had 10 minutes to think about this and would like to rephrase my update...
As of today, my mortgage is going up.
From Saturday, my number of lodgers is going down.
I will be left with one remaining lodger, who's on a significantly reduced rent due to the cleaning she's not doing. Oh, and she's not paying any rent at all anyway.
Is it time to just kick Quackers out as well, get rid of the chickens, and start all over again?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
thats an option badger, just make sure you arent owed any money
i might end up doing a similar diary to yours, my lodger moves in soon, she got her key last night and already has decided she doesnt want to know how to put the central heating on (i have an astonishingly warm ex council house with prepayment meters lol)things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

Will, what if you've got kids who have school in the morning and are in bed at 8.30pm who can't sleep because of the noise from the neighbours? What if the kids tune into the noise and then listen out for it. is it right that kids should wear earplugs to bed to be able to sleep? I ask because that's what my 11 year old has had to do for some time now, and when people start making smart comments like, "turn the dial up a notch", then I want to hurt them physically, such is the emotional stress.Pants0 -

Kick her out and hold Big Brother style auditions for new lodgers... might be painful to live through but it would help the writing along!0 -
depends what is reasonable and what is not reasonable?
live next door to me and 8:30pm is get in from work and make some food time, my lodger works nights on rotation, so she has a room next to the elderley neighbours as they wont be noisy during the day. someone knocked on the door at 8am this morning, yeah like i was going to go down to answer lol
anyway i am off home now, bye bye everyone :hello:things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

Hi Warehouse
What you described is a differant scenario and maybe I should have put on a friday night that reasonable music at 8.20pm is acceptable even if the neighbours can hear it...
I would also hazard a guess that as you put emotional stress that its not just a noise problem with your neighbours?
