Free Pontins holiday are back,

stacey bit out of order there..not pathetic and no I didnt sit with a face on..we took the kids over to the centre and they loved the shows..I even said I couldnt fault the food or the staff we came across[apart from in the play area where the lad was more interested in reading his mag than anything going on in there but thats teenagers]
So no I didnt just sit there..if I had decided that was that then we wouldnt even have stayed for one night. The used condom incident was on the tuesday obviously if you think thats acceptable then fair enough..I dont!!

on his way to bed my 11 year old looked at this thread and said pontins was okay, lots to do but the people (apart from us, and stacey's group no doubt lol!) were awful. we're not snobs and we live on a council estate in the midlands, but i suppose he is right, it was chavland there. the beach in southport was worse, nobody seemed able to string a sentence together without using the F word at least 3 times. my 2 year old had a really fab holiday though :rotfl:

Aww bless him! I am a firm believer in a holiday is what you make it! there is always something for people to moan about no matter where they go or what they do! This was free so therefore do not feel there is any room for complaining! I have posted my pics on facebook, you never know you might spot yourself in the background somewhere!!!


And as for used condoms, no I dont think its acceptable at all......but then I would have pulled a member of staff over immediately and reported it, whereupon I am certain it would have been dealt with promptly. I am sure Pontins Staff would have found it just as offensive as you did. Perhaps Pontins should make people chain their children to them so this type of thing doesnt happen. It was probably some kids that decided to spend their money in the vending machine in the toilets as opposed to the arcade.......their having a little fun, after all its their holiday too! I bet your teacher, solicitor or even doctor threw a condom at someone in their university days at some stage..........get a grip! I am not going to reply to you again, its boring now.

lol tilly I am actually from Liverpool and still live there so no not flaming them.
To be honest most people seemed to be from scotland or newcastle.

Stacey re the condoms I did report them and they were still there an hour later..

tilly - no i wasn't robbed and didn't think i would be.

it just so happened that every swear word we heard was in a scouse accent. i'm sorry if i offended you, i wasn't suggesting that all scousers are foul mouthed and i know there are lots of lovely scousers on MSE. i'm friends with some in real life too.
southport, prestatyn etc. are close to liverpool that's all. my in-laws live nearby so whenever we go to southport, prestatyn, chester zoo, camelot etc. that's what we hear - scouse swearing.

if 90% of the people in a place are scouse then it's more likely than any swearing you hear will come from one of them simply because there's more. does that make sense? in a room full of people it will be the badly behaved ones who stand out.

i was simply saying that my children didn't notice the swearing because they didn't pick up on it due to the accent.

I feel i need to put a word here for those people going on about the foul language heard and used around your children THEY GO TO SCHOOL don't they i bet they hear a lot worse there mine do.

I went to Pontins at the weekend - Southport too! :wave:

Loved the town. It was much less tacky than other seaside resorts (the likes of Rhyl and Blackpool) and had some lovely shops etc. The beach was nice and clean too.

The chalet we were in was fine. The bedding was perfectly clean and usable. The whole apartment was perfectly clean and I was happy for the kids to be in there. (Our youngest is crawling and he was able to crawl about without me being overly worried.)

I was happy with the amenities on site. We spent plenty of money there as we had so much stuff to take anyway (travel cot, kid's stuff etc) we couldn't fit in lots of food too! The prices were okay on site. They seemed cheaper than Butlins, anyway. There isn't a great deal of choice in terms of food on-site, but that wasn't unexpected really and easily avoided if you do want to take your own food.

Personally, we saw it as a free weekend break and were happy to spend the money eating out and frittering it away on the arcade games. I can sit inside and cook any night of the week! (I thought the arcades were fine and most things were working.)

I have to say that I didn't do very well from an MSE point of view! I didn't even spot the voucher for a free game of air-hockey!

Some of the people there were a little rough but no problems with bad language or litter and our five year old enjoyed himself. :T
