ASDA Carrier Bags - No more freebies

asda will have to stop pre-packaging all the fruit and veg in plastic before i believe this is for the environment.

If they stop giving out bags, i will be buying bigger, heavier, less biodegradeable ones for my bin. i can't see how that's better.

Bags are an issue. But what about all the other packaging in your shopping what are they doing about that. If you need free bags just get them from the fruit and veg stand

i think all supermarkets are looking at this in 1 form or another, i work for morrisons and have noticed that the tomato puree, that comes in tubes, and then the tube is put into a cardboard box, well there own brand is minus the cardboard box, so is just the tube now, so saves on some packaging, god help the staff though that have to try and fill the shelves up, the will have to stand up on a lid size smaller than a 5p piece, :rotfl: :rotfl: , so i think we will see more things like this happening over the coming months

I personally don't agree that anywhere should charge, whilst I occasionally do take my own bags i also occasionally forget, i begrudge paying £3 for a reusable bag, if they dripped the price on these so more people could buy more easily then I would do it.

Also I thik Tesco will be on the heel fastly and following suit. I also agree that it is a money making scheme. I have hundreds of bags, not all mine that I have had shopping in but ones which have been given to me by family, i have recycled them using the recycle points at the supermarkets and also put some on freecycle for people who may want them for car boot sales or market traders. i thinkB&Q are good when i saw the comment made on the first page where you are charged 5p a bag or can re use ones behind the tills.

I wonder about the home delivery too, whenever I get one it arrives in a huge quantity of plastic bags, most of which contain just a few small items.
The driver takes them back to recycle which is fair enough but I don't think they need to use so many in the first place.
A returnable box or re-usable bags would be great.
