ASDA Carrier Bags - No more freebies

They're not really free bags though they've probably just been covering the costs elsewhere. They grow on the trees outside one of my local stores. Not to mention blow across the by pass. If your within walking distance a 30 to 60 litre backpack is so much easier.0

my point was if we are going to be expected to buy these bags for life then they should design them better. your thinking seems to be they are as they are so tough. why have that view when surely they can be improved?0 -
what are these green charities achieving?
are they going to club together with the government in an attempt to bribe mother nature into not letting the earth heat up too much? as that's the only way we will ever be able to do anything BECAUSE IT'S A NATURAL OCCURANCE. now when i go shopping, i use as many carrier bags as i can get away with, and they go straight in the bin when i get in.
Co-op bank did themselves no favours recently, they started putting 'do you really want a receipt? think of the environment' on their cash machines. i never used to get a receipt, but i do now. it's astounding how companies are skimping & trying to save money by claiming to be doing it for the environment.
it's just one big con.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -

virgin media are going to start charging £1 to recieve paper bills rather than online bills. they claim it is to help the environment. they told us this about a week after they had sent us a pointless magazine. unbelievable or what? regarding the bills. getting them online doesnt save paper coz we are then going to have to print them out on our own printers. so paper and ink is still being used.0 -

@donnajumkie
Thats virgin just passing on the costs then
.
BT do the same with paper billing and have done so for over a year. Last I heard was that the OFT (or some such ombudsman) were investigating hidden charges on billing, the suggestion being that they were to be explicit in advertising and promotional material. Not heard anymore of that recently.
Personally I think it should be ruled against as it only making comparing services more complex than it needs to be.0 -
also, if virgin are going to charge £1 for a bill, can i charge them for the constant barrage of flyers i get from them?
i might write an invoice up later...helpful tips

In fairness (not that there is much!) its not really making money as saving money. It does cost them a heck of a lot for paper statements. OK net result is the same but if you look Virgin Media aren't actually making any significant profits which are not ploughed back into the networks.
I have banked online for the last 10 years or so. Being honest, I don't think I have ever printed a statement. And I certainly don't print statements for utilities, etc.0
