I can't find anywhere that sells coopervision biofinity lenses without them requiring a prescription,
All the sites I know that don't require a prescription don't supply this lens,
My current optician wants £30 a month, I can get these for £10 a month with a prescription from a UK company online,
Getting my prescription is difficult as they say i have to have 3 months after care first which means i have to pay for £90 for 3 months.
If anyone comes across a website where this lens that can be bought without a prescription please post it here.
thank you.0 -
I get mine from Postlenses, they do require a contact lens prescription, but the staff are helpfull & friendly0

Hi
Does anyone know where I can get a contact lens check without belonging to a scheme, my current optician (who formerly charged £25 for a check up) now only runs a £75 pa (or £6.00 per month d/debit) - lenses then £22 per 30 pairs. As I only wear them occasionally - I really don't want to be tied in to a scheme - I just want a check once a year and to buy on-line when I need the lenses. This seems an impossible request!!!!!!
Any ideas??
Thanks:j0 -

You should be able to get a contact lens check at most opticians for a fee rather than joining a scheme. Cost around £15 or £20.
Another post on the site suggests ASDA - if you buy their lenses you get an aftercare checkup for free.
I used Specsavers when I wanted to change the way I got my lenses - no problem and no scheme to sign up to. I now use Daysoft.co.uk - cheap and comfortable and thanks to Martin and the forums for the information and saving me more money."The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him no good."(Samuel Johnson 1709-1784)

Need some advice.
I went for a contact lens fitting at Specsavers about 18 months ago and couldn't do it. The optician just tried to put them in but I kept flinching each time she approached my eyeball. I don't think she was very good because she just advised me to give up after about 5/10 mins
I decided to go back for another attempt a week or so ago. I went to Dolland & Aitchison. I told her about my previous attempt and she said I can skip that part and have a go at doing it myself, while being watched by a contact lens "teacher". I tried for about 15/20 mins and couldn't do it. Every time I went near, I would blink or close my eye, or I couldn't keep my eyelids open - they kept slipping shut.
She told me to go home and practice touching my eyes for a week and come back. I did that and still couldn't do it when I returned. She said I had improved, as I was getting it to touch my eye. I even managed to get it on my eye twice, but it wasn't on properly and my eyelid came down and pushed it off. She could see I was getting flustered by this point, so she said to have a break and come back in a few days.
Today I cancelled the appointment because I couldn't face it - the disappointment more than anything. I said I had to stay at work so she said to call them when I want to have another attempt.
I really want it to work but I think there's something deep down that won't let me do it. Even if I managed to get them in, by some sort of fluke...getting them out terrifies me even more. I've watched my missus pinch her eyeball to take hers out and I don't fancy that much!0 -
Need some advice. (I did use the sticky contact lenses thread but something weird is going on. I made a new post but it appeared in page 4 out of about 26 !!!!!!!)

I really want it to work but I think there's something deep down that won't let me do it. I've been trying to touch my eyeballs here at home, but each time I manage to do it, I automatically flinch and blink - and you need to keep your eyes open after the lens has popped onto your eyeball.

I have worn contact lenses for about 11 years or so.
It does take a bit of practice to learn how to put them in at first, but will definately get easier (I can put mine in/out with no mirror, in the dark, lol)
When you put them in, you don't really have to touch your eye much at all.....I open my eye wide by holding my eyelashes up and then just pop the contact lens in - then just blink a few times till I can feel that it is in properly.
You might find that you can practice better at home rather than being watched and feeling under pressure at the Opticians.......don't keep poking your eye till it is raw though! Try again a few mins later.
I use daily disposeables from Specsavers as I don't like the hassle of having to clean and store lenses, plus they are very thin.
Good Luck, I'm sure practice will make perfect

It's always tough to begin with. I used to be terrible, now I can put them in or out anywhere and have no problem touching my eyes.
I'd say keep persevering. Contact lenses can seriously change your life confidence wise.
Also, make sure that your fingers are very dry and so is the skin around your eyes otherwise everything slips and you'll never do it. Given the problems you are describing, I would say that this is your key problem.
Opening your eye wide enough is key.
When you put the lens in, don't focus on your finger. Push the lens right onto the eye and let the bottom lid close first andthen let go of the top.
If you are taking several attempts, then try blowing your nose as it will clear any build up of fluidin your eye and help drain it away.
Why not take a trial pair home so you can practice at your own leisure?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
We used to get the occasional squeamish person like you where I used to work. Have known people in tears trying to get them in. Sorry if its not what you want to hear, but contacts are just not for some people. Are you suitable for LASIK instead (of course that would involve being able to stomache the smell of burning)?Been away for a while.0
