Hello jujitsu
I'll move your thread to the 'Health & Beauty' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

I have dark grey eyes and my contact lens were turquoise, everyone commented on them. I didn't see a difference myself. Most of the coloured lens don't have a particularly strong colour if your eyes are dark, but the ones prescribed for me were quite deep to start with. However the stonger colour are made from a slightly thicker material which some people find uncomfortable.0

Hey i was hoping someone could advise me where i should buy my contacts from. I've had contacts before but always wore them as an alternative to my glasses - due to the cost from my local opticians and the ones i got were monthlies which began it irritate my eyes after about 1 week (probably because i didn't disinfect them properly out of laziness :embarasse.
Anyway i've been looking at Specsavers site who i have my prescription from and their proces are much cheaper than my local opticians (sadly) e.g. i paid £20 for monthlies at my local opticians whereas specsavers give dailies for basically the same price.
I was just wondering where is a cheap place to get contact but also reliable and safe?
Also i was wondering:
1. If i get for example, the 2 weekly ones and i don't wear them for say one week do i still have to dispose of them after 2 weeks from my first use has passed?
2. Is it really essential to have these contact lense after-care as i have had contacts before and know how to put them in and disinfect them?
Many thanks!0 -
I've been using
https://www.postoptics.co.uk/
and had no trouble with them and they post contact lens abroad which is good for me.
You need an upto date contact lens prescription and yes i do think follow up aftercare is essential, but mine is yearly0 -
anyone got any suggestions as to the cheapest supplier for daily toric lenses?

Just had my eye's tested and I need help. I have a script for glasses but have been told that I need to spend £50 at vision express for fitting of lenses and then £28 per month for daily lenses. Can anyone tell me of where I can get fitted cheaper and also where is best for me to get contacts once I have been fitted. Do I need solutions and stuff to, I have no clue, please advise!--

Hi pstones,
Have a look at Martin's article on Contact Lens and Laser eye surgery and you should find some tips on saving money.
I'll move your thread over to the Health and Beauty board where there is a long thread that should help: contact lens discussion thread

The fitting fee quoted would cover several appointments for the 'trial' and follow up and also the time taken to instruct you on how to insert, remove and if necessary clean your contact lenses. All this costs a lot of money in terms of overheads.
If someone is prepared to do all this for less (i.e. at an even greater loss), you have to ask yourself why!Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I get my lenses from dolland and atchison. I pay £20 a month for 2 sets of lenses and solutions. I never had to pay a fitting fee and I get free annual checkups and also unlimited aftercare. I think this is very good value. You can get the lenses cheaper (acuvue advance) from tesco direct etc, but after you have added the solutions and case you have to buy each month there is not much difference.
I used to have daily lenses but now I use these monthly disposable ones and they are just as comfortable and cleaning them really only takes about 30 seconds. I would recommend this option because the after care is very important.0 -
Yeah, D&A include checkups and fitting free as part of their contact lenses by post service. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
