I'm with specsavers and unless yours is different to ours my free trial was just that and lasted ages as they wouldnt let me pay till we got the strengths just right. I started out with the ones you take out each night for a while but now have the continuous wear ones which I change once a month. I pay £15.50 a month and even though could get them a bit cheaper on the internet I wouldnt change as if I have any problem get seen straight away at no cost and if I need a new lens for any reason they post me one out straight away or I can pop in and pick one up. Hope this helps, I would hate to go back to wearing glasses now I'm used to these.

I have been reading this thread with great interest and have been fired up enough to join and add my own 'observatons'.

I have been a contact lens wearer for 2 1/2 years and always used D & A as eye sight tests were funded by my employer and we used to have no option over who we could use.

Following various conversations with friends and fellow wearers, I realised I could make a huge saving on my costs - after shopping around I now pay £15 per month including solution & all aftercare. Previously I was paying around £30 per month.

I too found D & A unhelpful when asking for my prescription. I was told the optician needed to write it & wasn't available (even though he was) & would need an appointment to get this. My new supplier, SpecSavers, rang D & A and had my prescription faxed through. So far I am very happy with them but would still consider shopping around again as I found costs varied greatly. Would also suggest this if you require glasses too - having worn them since I was 6 yrs I have never had courage to shop around before - wish I'd done it years ago!!

I have got also stuck with D&A. I told them I use daily disposable contact lens only over weekend. Still they forced me to opt for !4/month option. I have already paid £40 for the first thirty pairs which i assume will cover me for several months. How early can I cancel my direct debit? They ask me to come after a month to Ok my prescription. I would prefer to get is Oked and cancel the direct debit.
Any suggestions.

I go to an independant opticians in Norwich. I bought my daily disposables, 90 pairs for £60. I don't wear them that much. I ask them for the longest use by dates and they last me ages. I get a better service as they are a small company and would not use the high st ones as they are more like a factory line.:D

I used to use them for a bit of a laugh. They work great but are more expensive than usual ones. I used to buy ones that were supposed to last 3 months but I made them last longer as I only used to wear them on nights out. If you do that you must change the solution often as otherwise they dry up if left in storage for too long. I used to wear green and lilac ones as my eyes are brown.

I got my eyes lasered 5 years ago and do miss the coloured lenses..

They are great for a bit of a laugh but personally I wouldn't wear them all the time. I had a brown eyed boyfriend who used to wear electric blue ones all the time but he was a bit of a t0sser so I cant comment more..

I tried the green ones (I have blue eyes) I didn't really rate them. The colour was quite muted.
