I currently wear monthly disposables £10 per month with specsavers ,but am looking to change to either daily disposables or continuous wear

any advice on either ? would be appreciated :)

I wear the continuous wear for 30 days with Specsavers for £15.50 per month - best thing I did was changing to them, I think they are brilliant :D

They are brilliant - I have had no bother with them at all and have been wearing them now for nearly 2 years. I very rarely have to take them out unless changing them.

They are much better than the 30 day wear ones that you have to remove each night :D
  • Just to keep everyone up-to-date, I contacted Specsavers and told them that I could get the same deal I have with them for my contacts cheaper elsewhere and they have agreed to drop the cost :j

Just shows that if you are trying to save money here and there there is no harm in asking.

    Every little helps...;)
  • I disagree that few people 'need' contact lenses. Singers, dancers, actors, sports players, runners, and probably a lot I haven't thought of. Anything involving phsysical activity or quick movement cannot be done effectively wearing specs. Years ago, my brother had to wear haptic [covering the whole eyeball] lenses for technical work in TV.

Just as per the title really.

I have been using contacts for years but not daily, just for things like special ocassions and holidays so usually go and get a few months every year. Have not got any for 18 months but need to get some for impending holiday. I had my test at Specsavers 18 months ago and had to change branches a year later and when I went for the sight test they said they had no record of me on their systems so I'd have to have another test and start al over again. Because my daughter started school I have not had time to get that done but need to get some new lenses. I have to change branches again and can only get there on Saturdays but sight test is still current (under 6 months) but wondered if anyone had heard of this company and whether they were reputable. I need the B&L Soflens, the others are too small and sit on the bottom of my eye and irritate but these re the ones I have worn for years (about 10 years now) so wanted some more of these.

If not this company then another, they are quoting £55.48 for 3 months, they are about £29 per month at Specsavers, also a lot of places asking that you have a current prescription under 1 year which I do not have and don't know if I can get one done before I need them.

I've been wearing contact lenses since May last year. I was just wondering how often I should have an eye test done? Should it be once every year?
The last few days I keep getting headaches and I don't know if it's due to my contact lenses. Any advice?

I think it's reasonable to expect some kind of aftercare service for something like contact lens. I'd expect to be able to go back for a check up within a year if there were problems or I was concerned about my eyes.

A contact lense prescription needs to be less than a year old for an optician to give you the lenses. So, say you had you last eye test In March and got a prescription, and then take the prescription to the optician the following February (I don't know why you would wait that long mind...:o ), they'd only be able to give you a months lenses.

So judging from this, I'd guess it's recommended to go every year. However, if you're having headaches and suspect it's your eyes there's no harm in going to an optician as often of you like :)

  • guidelines have recently changed sali, CL's can be supplied if the sight test was done within 2 years (many opticians will still insist on a ST every year for CLs though)

getting back to the OPs post though, probably best to book in for an eye test to get to the bottom of the headaches, do you get them with your glasses too or just with your lenses?
