I wear Focus Night and Day (although only for daily wear) and they are the most comfortable lenses I have found - and I tried quite a few. If you shop around you can get them for less than £10 a month.0

yes, ur right....its weird though, at times the vision is perfect and i have no problems with lenses and at times like today for instance, its blurry again. The Op did give me a couple lenses to try and they were the same. Actually, the other one was worse.0

Nothing to add to the above, and ayeshasi did the right things, but I just want to add that you should ALWAYS go to the optician immediately if you experience sudden blurring in one eye, especially if you're very short-sighted.
I was unlucky enough to get a detached retina two years ago and fortunately it was diagnosed quickly and repaired, but this is not trivial...
Also, the point about driving with defective vision is serious; you could get six years if you killed someone and were driving knowingly without sufficient correction.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

I wear 'fashion' lenses sometimes (contacts with patterns and pictures on). I used to get prescription ones when I needed them, but after I had laser treatment I got them with a 0 prescription, just for fun :-)
Some of them gave me the same effect, i.e. when my pupil dilated wider than the hole in the centre of the pattern my vision would be blurred. I wore them anyway, and after a while I did get used to them, and I could swap between ones that did cover my pupils and ones that didn't without getting blurred vision. Certain brands definitely fitted better than others, but with patterned lenses there is a lot less choice than for plain ones.
I was only wearing them out clubbing etc, so driving wasn't an issue. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
I had this years ago when I had gas permeable lenses. It was like I was walking around in a fog. The cause was that they were badly fitted and were cutting off the oxygen to my eyes and my eyes were reacting accordingly. This was told to me by the 2nd optician I consulted. The first optician did not know why I was getting this reaction so it would be an idea to get a second opinion. By the way as soon as I got new lenses that were correctly fitted the problem went away. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I now wear PureVision Toric lenses, having upgraded from the Night and Day due to astigmatism. I only sleep in them one or may be two nights a week, otherwise I wear them daily but they are fab!
I also take them out for at least one day a week. Not really required, but it's something I'm ok with doing, plus having recently shelled out £312 and change for up-to-date glasses I'm getting as much wear out of them as I can!
Still don't understand why Optical Express sells 3 month supply for £90 when I can get 6 month supply for the same cost. The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
well, i dont mind getting a different brand of lenses but now my optician has just said to get used to it, what am i supposed to do. My base curve is 8.7 and the base curve for freshlook lenses is 8.6....could this be the reason for causing the problem..my op didnt think so, but then again, i am curious that it might be......Bausch and Lomb have a base curve of 8.7 which i think i should need...not sure to order them though.0

I have joined the Birmingham Hospital Saturday fund though work. There was a rep come to see us and b4 I joined I specifically asked if i could reclaim the cost (or a percentage of) of getting my daily contact lenses. I told her I paid for them by direct debit monthly and collected them twice a year. She told me that i could claim and there wouldnt be a problem so I joined and later sent in my official receipt. i had a letter in return asking for further info (eg if this included consult fees , solutions etc) which was signed by my optician and sent in but that was weeks ago and I havent heard anything back yet. Has anyone cliamed for contacts from them at all and if so did you have any problems? thanks0

hi, my son has had cataract surgery on both eyes in the last six months. he has finally been given permission to get his eyes tested for new glasses, etc.
we were there yesterday and the optition has told us he needs contact lenses for everyday use, these lenses will be set at distance so he needs glasses for over his contacts for reading, as he cannot wear contacts all the time he also needs long distance glasses for driving etc, and short distance glasses for reading.
he is 18 and is on an apprenticeship which earns him £100 a week, he has a certificate for full help with costs, but this only covers his eye test and voucher towards one pair of glasses, leaving a very big hole to fill.
does anyone know if he can get extra help or am i going to end up footing the bill again.
