  • I'm looking for the best deal for all in one contact lens solution. I usually go to vision direct for their own branded solution, can anyone beat this deal?

    4 x 360ml all in one/multi-use solution delivered = £18.89
(The 4 bottles are 15.89, and delivery is 3.00).

This happens to come with 4 lens cases, but cash is more important than cases if you can find a lower priced deal.

I've tried a few and have found Tesco's own brand (all in one) contact lense solution the best :j It's about £4 for 250mls and comes with a lens case.

Can your son get referred to the Hospital Eye Service. I have got my CL from the hospital since I was 14 and am now 29. I think that the total cost is £89 for contact lenses that you get replaced every 2 yrs. I believe that the HC1 cert is accepted for them....

  • Don't know if they've come up before but haven't found any reference to them on this thread: Optical Express. I've been with them for 18months and they've been great - they have a variety of contact lenses schemes and when I went in they explained what the differences were, with no pressure. I'm on the cheapest option (for monthly disposable lenses) and have not had any trouble. For £9 p/month, I get a yearly lense check-up (not sure if I should get a regular eye-test too; ought to check that!), with lenses and solutions delivered to my door every 3months. It's easy peasy! On the plus side, they have high-street stores so you can just pop in if you want..

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO,
(If you have taken that from your sight test results )

That is not a contact lens prescription, that is for specs, you will need either a contact lens fitting or if you have had one the readings from there. They are 2 very different things and if you were to order from above than its pretty much gonna be wrong.

If the readings you have put ARE contact lens specifications then you need a toric and to input the whole lot.

Post more here if you need some advice,

update- just had a cheque in the post!! that will come in handy
  • the optition has told us he needs contact lenses for everyday use, these lenses will be set at distance so he needs glasses for over his contacts for reading

firstly, very few people "need" contact lenses, but if he wants them for cosmetic/occupational reasons he can use cheap "ready-made/off-the-shelf" reading glasses over them for close work

also, get him to ask the optician about the possibility of "monovision" (one contact lens for distance and one for near - doesn't work for everyone mind)
as he cannot wear contacts all the time he also needs long distance glasses for driving etc, and short distance glasses for reading.

or he could possibly have bifocal/varifocals - dependant on prescription, check with the optician
he is 18 and is on an apprenticeship which earns him £100 a week, he has a certificate for full help with costs, but this only covers his eye test and voucher towards one pair of glasses, leaving a very big hole to fill.
does anyone know if he can get extra help or am i going to end up footing the bill again.
    thanks

if he gets full help and goes for two separate pairs (one for distance, one for reading) he will get 2 vouchers, one towards each pair. the value of the voucher is dependant on the prescription. if he goes for bif/varis he will get one voucher which is worth more, but again, the actual value is dependant on the prescription.

  • Hi,

Not sure if I've put this post in the correct place but here goes anyway:

I currently have continuous wear contact lenses from Specsavers and pay £15.50 per month by direct debit.

I am very happy with their service but am trying to cut my costs down and wondered has anyone ever tried writing to Specsavers (or their own opticians) to ask if they can reduce the cost to keep your custom?

I was thinking about this as I know people do this with other companies and products.

If anyone has done this or has any thoughts/example letters I could try I would appreciate it.

    Many thanks
