I think you'd be best talking to your optometrist.

    I have a question!

I have just gotten my first pair of contact lenses and as they are on a trial, I am trying to work out if they're OK for me or not.

I have a strong astigmatism in addition to being short sighted and so have limited options as to what I can get away with. I'm unable to get dailies and so have been offered monthlies and at the moment am trialling a pair of toric lenses which seem easy enough to put in/take out and feel comfortable enough, however, that's where the positive stuff ends...

However, the lenses I have are not so easy to wear. I can't seem to focus on anything further away then 30 cm which is actually better then my normal vision, but where as my normal vision just blurs everything past arms length, these lenses just make everything appear with double vision.

I've no idea if this is to do with my eyes getting used to the lenses and if I persevere my eyes will get used to them, but after 2 hours a day-the most I seem to be able to tolerate, the double vision has gotten too bad by that point.

Is this me, or is it the lenses?
It's the lenses. Go back and see your contact lens optician and see what can be done. Your vision shouldn't be doubling, and should be nearly as good as your glasses!

And if they are as bad as that, stop wearing them until you go to your appointment (but wear them for at least an hour beforehand).

I have the same, thank god I thought it was just me! I can't see, and everythings blurry. Lucky my appointment is Monday so I'm hoping they can sort me out. Mine also don't feel comfy, hoping its the dry weather, feel gritty really. They are also collapsing when I take them out, so unsure which way is right or wether I'm putting them in inside out, and wether it matters anyway....... god so many questions, just hope its worth it all in the end:)

    Hi all!

Just left Specsavers due to bad experiences (bungled direct debits, and rude staff), and am looking at using Vision Express (and a few others).

First off, does anyone have good/bad experiences with this company? I've seen the online reviews (at Trustpilot), and it seems they're not much different to Specsavers!

Secondly, I noticed that for the contact scheme you have to pay a £25 consultation fee plus 3-mths advance on the lenses. Has anyone noticed a major price difference between SS and VE?

Just wanted some advice... am I being mugged off by specsavers!! They recomend that i wear my contact lenses just monday to friday, so 60 lenses are supposed to last for 3 months, their logic being theres 5 working days in a week, 4 weeks in a month so thats 20 working days in each month...

But there are 261 weekdays in a year ...and i worked out im only getting 240 lenses in a year so am i being conned!! Im confused!!
most people will be paying for 30 lenses a month Yet im paying £24 per month for 2o lenses a month.

I'm sure if you up your direct debit they'll supply you more lenses. Al optiicans have schemes equivalent to 1 out of 3 days, 2 out of 3 (which you are on), full time wear etc.
  • Hello everybody, my eye set is too weak and i want to use contact lenses, but i don't know about more contact lenses,so can anyone tell me which lenses are good for long time period. thnax
