I've been using daysoft for over a year, I always re-order from them so I find them great.

You're not automatically entitled to any NHS examinations or vouchers once you turn 19 - fill out a HC1 form (most opticians have them) and if your income is low enough you will continue to be entitled to NHS sight tests and vouchers. You can use the voucher towards contact lenses.

Your 0ptometrist is the person to be listening to. None of the forum members will have had the opportunity to examine your eyes
  • I am currently with Specsavers - I pay £25 per month for dailies

I have just ordered their equivalent for £9.98 for one months supply - I am going to try them out and if they are fine, then I will cancel my current contract - the only thing that I will have to do is pay for an eye test each year - which at £25 is a little price to pay to save £15 pm!

If you do this, make sure you get a prescription for contact lenses and not just a sight test, as they may differ slightly.
Most highstreet opticians offer free trials and I really think its worth doing this to make sure you will have the best fitting lenses for comfort and vision.
Your sight is priceless, yet so many people put it at risk by not spending a little more and having yearly checks.
Unless you can actually check the back of your eyes yourself , you may end up with problems that could of been avoided.:)

My prescription expired the other day and I'm almost up to getting my next yearly batch of contact lenses.

In case Tesco have a problem with me doing a repeat order what is the quickest/cheapest way for me to get my prescription updated?

My contact lenses are still perfect so I'm sure its a formality but don't want to spend too much on it if I can avoid it.

    Thanks

    Hi Guys,

I've been paying Vision Xpress £25 a month for 1 pair of Bausch & Lomb SofLens Torric Contact Lenses. (Each pair lasts a month)

I had no idea you an get these online, until I came across our sub-forums.

I went to the ASDA Contact Lens web site and they are charging:

"2 Boxes of 6 Lenses inc. Solutions for £57 delivered"

This sounds too good to be true. I rang them up and the lady said that will be 6 for the Left Eye and 6 for the Right Eye as well as their own brand solutions, which she says are re-packaged RENU (made by Bausch & Lomb) Multiplus solution.

    57 / 6 pairs = £9.50 a pair!

I cannot believe my eyes. I had a very quick browse at other sites and none of them clome close to this. Can this be true?

The lady gave me their email address for me to send a scan of my prescription (took in April 2010) and also told me to give them my local branch's phone number just in case. And that's it.

    Further Info:

These are the lenses and I like them very much:
    http://www.asda-contactlenses.co.uk/product/bausch-and-lomb-soflens-66-toric=54

If you look carefully at the picture of the box, I think it says 6 Soft contact lenses on the bottom right corner (I normally get 3 in a box from Vision Xpress). So the item description of "2 Boxes of 6 Lenses", indeed, indicates I will get 6 Left-Eye and 6 Right-eye...

If this is the case, it means with the money I save, I can get some better prezzies for the family.

Your help and opinions are greatly appreciated,

    Sonny

  • Regarding the above post.
Well, it seems it is true. They confirmed it is for a 6 months supply. Woohoo.

By the way, don't make the same mistake as me.

Contact lens wearers will have a contact lens prescription AND A DIFFERENT one for your GlASSES (Specs), because contacts are closer to the eye, theefore the prescription will be slightly different.

When purchasing contacts online, you need to give the company your contact lens prescription.

    Just a heads-up.
