And why do people keep paying instead of voting with their feet
  • Guys,

While a venting about TV licenses is fine, please can we keep the conversation based to the facts and concentrate of the policy itself rather than specific employees.

    Thanks

If we do away with the TV licence do we not run the risk that we could end up with American style programming ... large chunks of adverts ... right in the middle of a football game ... right at the end of a Grand Prix .. they don't care about the programming as long as they can squeeze about 30 minutes of adverts in every hour ... and some of the adverts can run for 5-10 minutes themselves!!!

If it is a choice between a licence (which I hate) or American style programme management (which I hate even more) then I am going to have to opt for the licence. If however they can do sensible advertising (such as 2 minutes every 15 minutes) then I say bring on the adverts.

ok so they dont advertise during programmes on the bbc but before and after they advertise everything they can that relates to the bbc and future programmes..
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

I can't agree with the contents of the site that you linked to - it promotes theft, lying and dishonesty. Irrespective of what we may think the law does require us to have a TV licence if we are operating a TV. If this sort of site gets any kind of credulity then whats next, will we discard our driving licences, no need for car tax, might as well dump the insurance as well.

There is no difference between those not paying for a TV license (when they should) and shop lifters and other common thieves.

I am not criticising that you have put a link to it (its good for discussionary purposes) it is the contents that basically condone theft that I am quesitoning. My pont is that if such a site is able to win on the debate then what is next ...
