Had my ipod for 2 years now, used every day and battery is still fine. I know there have been problems but everyone I know with one hasn't had an issue. The fact that it looks like half the owners in the US have sued Apple, doesn't mean a lot as it is the sue capital of the world.

New model have a vastly improved battery life though.

and a vastly improved price as well

You get what you pay for ;)

I've had the 4th gen iPod photo for a year and it's still as good as the day I got it ;)

thats the point some are making they paying a fortune for these things and apple are aware there is a problem with a lot of them with the batteries ,, not all and yours seems to be one of them that are ok.. i would hate to pay the money they ask and then have to fork out another £50 in a yr or so to get a new battery..

and then put the batteries on for them to want a few weeks later lol

Yeah only problem there is that it's an internal power source with no way in to the unit other than to crack it open!

I have a 15gb iPod, and I wish I'd went for another MP3 player, as the battery life is terrible. Mine is only a year old and I only get about 4 hours of battery life from a fully charged battery - and with no way to replace it than to send it to Apple, it's quite crap!

My advice would be to go for some other iPod, the Rio ones are quite good. I think that iPods are only popular because they're the most well known!

There's some 3rd gen iPods on there for decent prices:

    10GB: £76.38 sold out
    15GB: £94.00 sold out

    and not so decent prices:

    20GB: £148.99 sold out
    30GB: £159.00

These tend to be brand new units btw :)

Hi there, just wondering if anyone know that "these tend to be brand new units"?? is that true? really??

oh man, should have got the 10gb one...

do you think they would have some more in stock later on?

Yep items classed as "refurbs" have tended to be brand new units going by past experiences from people reporting on forums.

Keep an eye on the refurb site every day. There's a thread in "Shop but don't drop" that announced the opening of the refurb site every day until some point in October - it's usually only open on Wednesdays.

I see, but do you think Apple updates their refurbs stocks everyday?

or do you think there is a great chance that Apple would have refurbs stocks coming in and keep on selling them? cheers
  • The refurb site gets updated all the time, but they don't usually have ipods. I would keep checking, especially in the morning when they realise they have sold out, despite such bad publicity. As they say - 'any publicity is good publicity'.

    What he said ^^
  • I bought one of the 1st Generation ipods about three years ago (I think;)) 5Gb which did me great service till it was stolen two months ago.

I did a lot of research and decided against another, the court case WON in the US says a lot and Watchdog missed something out, £50 is only for the battery, expect to pay more to actually get it replaced.

Sony NW-HD5, 20Gb with a £20 change yourself battery which last for up to 40 hours per single charge!!! This is currently reatiling online for £150+.

It is not quite as intuititive as the ipod but hey I'd rather not have the hassle.

The 3rd generation pod's were the ones with ALL the trouble by the way!!

    Good luck!
