Not a great weekend, hairdresser yesterday (my little treat) and I need to get two new tyres today. That's safety though so I'm not counting it as spends :D
The Oh went shopping and instead of buying Coke decided we'd drink squash that's been in the cupboard for ages. Also instead of buying exnsive yoghurts he went for the really cheap ones. We worked out that these 2 things alone will save us about £40 a month

I dread to think what my equivalent is!!:eek::eek: Will be driving for a couple of hours this afternoon so I'm going to ponder on it :)

One I should have posted earlier and forgot. If you are a member of a recognised Professional Institute related to your job and you pay for the membership yourself (you don't reclaim from your employer!) then you can tell the HMRC and they can adjust your tax code.

Now the good news, after trying to encourage OH for some time because she has to pay nearly £200 pa for her Membership, she got £180 refunded for several previous years and her tax code is now modified for the future :j

wow I'm going to give this a go, always made me mad that my boss said I had to be a member, and pay for it myself

Not done too bad this weekend. Went walking on Saturday (keeps me out of the shops!) and gave a lift to two friends. We're saving petrol by lift sharing and it was my turn. I did succumb to fish and chips on the way home though.

On Sunday I went to a cycle show but only bought a few things I really needed and which were a good price. A pretty MSE/MFW weekend in all.

Today I've cycled to work and brought in my lunch.

NSD Monday & Tuesday (away with work). Ebay items sold and paid for, £40 profit.
  • Hi fellow MFW's!

    This week I have

    - changed my energy supplier to a capped tariff (unfortunately missed out on the deal that ended later but still happy with what I got as I worked out that I will be better off immediately) Did it through quidco and got £75 too.

    - Done an ebay auction and now have around £65 coming from paypal.

    - Keeping up the veg patch and now 'salad independant' as we have enough to supply us through the summer due to my crafty successional sowing!

    - Sorted out my regular saver accounts which are ticking along nicely using the stoozepot money.

    - Resisted the temptation to spend money when I went shopping.

    - Got around £27 in co-op dividends through the post so this weeks shopping is sorted!

    - Sorted out a menu plan for the week making sure I use up what I've got in.

    - Stockpiled food (I know its non-pc but I had the urge after watching all the news reports about surging food prices) in my pantry and outside cupboard so I will keep this topped up and just buy what fresh stuff I need on a weekly basis. I got some rice at a good price and have lots of tinned beans, tomatoes, tuna, corned beef, powdered milk, coffee, tea, pasta etc...

-Have knit 3 pairs of socks as presents for xmas!

    - Bought a nice jam pan from a charity shop, hoping I'l get some fruit on my tree again this year so I can make jam (we seem to go through loads!)

Can't think of anything else, keep up the good work everyone :)

    Hi all!

Yesterday I hand washed my car instead of going to a car wash.

I will have lots of NSDs this week including yesterday, but todays spend is 1.29 on some cough mixture for OH so fairly essential.

I will make an effort to list at least on item on Ebay and hopefully it will go for a fair bit.

I will order my voucher from consumer pulse and try and think of other things to do.

    Have a productive day y'all :p

  • Today I have:

Checked gas/electric prices and we're still on the cheapest (Equigas/Equipower - never seems to get talked about much, small ethical supplier running through Southern Energy but have been consistently the best for us, we spend £20/month on each for 3 bed townhouse)

Paid in rent from lodger - as soon as cleared will pay half off mortgage, half into our major savings pot (tomorrow will max out monthly OP to £500)

    I will:

Water veg patch and harvest some salad

Opened myself an ISA and have just ditched £800 into it.

Cancelled Lovefilm account - now just need to hope the Piggypoints go in OK.

Still going well on the Don't throw food away challenge - I can't believe how empty the fridge looks but I have everything in there I need for the next few days meals. :T

Done a few more "non points" surveys on Lightspeed in the hope they will hurry up and set some more surveys for me to do.

I've had a no spend day - unless you count sending DH out to buy a bottle of wine for me as spending by proxy - he doesn't drink

    opinions please;)

Spending by proxy (on a limited scale) sounds fine by me!

    NSD for me.
