It is shaped like a giant hamburger, and was designed to grill the burgers and warm the buns.

donut maker - donuts are tiny, taste like cold yorkshire pudding - not nice used once.
deep fat fryer - batter ended up cooking outside the basket with the fish inside - now kept in the loft.
slow cooker - everthing ends up like thick soup.
love stick blender, electric whisk, cheese rotary grater and the gadget which is usually demonstrated instore which cuts up veg small like a slicer to make coleslaw. Nobody else seems to like them but I use mine all the time for soups etc...0 -
what a weird thing
or maybe I'm the weird thing... I love peeling potatoes
mind, I do use one of my favourite gadgets, a Good Grips peeler
I don't mind it unless I'm feeding a crowd... I'd just stick a load of potatoes in the oven and bake them thenand baked potato skins are tasty (especially seeing as that's where the goodness is :j)
I can't get to grips (no pun intended) on peeling potatoes with a peeler, just use a nice sharp, thin knife. Love the peeler for everythin else though.0 -

buuut, I gave my deep fat fryer away ... I hate the smell that lingers in the house, & on your clothes & hair after frying, & in spite of all the filters etc the smell was still there
I love HM pakoras, long for real chips as a once in a while treat & I want to try out my donutmaker dammit!
a dedicated outhouse for deep frying??? :think:0 -
Icecream maker because my son told me he wasn't eating anything with uncooked egg white in it! Will sort out some recipes that don't have egg whites.
Food processor as previous poster only use it for grating carrots for cake and another recipe that uses crumbs. Use anyone in the house to help mix cakes.
Most used - pressure cooker, blender, bread maker and microwave.
Intrigued by popcorn maker - I always used a pan on the hob.
i think a lot depends on the size of your household and the size of kitchen as well as personally prefernce for gadgets or not0 -
If you think about it what on earth is OldStyle about most of the gadgets from Kenwood chefs to juicers to electric steamers? OS would surely be a handwhisk, spoons, various knives and stove top steamers.:) Of course like most of us on here I've got gadgets, some to be kept others shown the door pretty damn smart.
I now have all the gadgets I want or need, and they are surprisingly few: a stick blender that also comes with a bowl for chopping or grating, a hand mixer for meringues (hand whisking was killing), a breadmaker, a popcorn maker, my electric plate-warmer ( fantastic when oven space is at a premium) and not forgetting a slowcooker.
Shown the door have been the electric deep fat fryer, toasted sandwich maker, george foreman type grill, electric 3 tier steamer, yoghurt maker, electric knife, food processor, standard mixer ( both too big and bulky with very limited cupboard and counter space) I never got on with the pressure cooker, but it was one of those out of the ark without the sophistication of today's models.
If I had room ( and money!!! ) I would try the gaggia icecream maker. As it is I do it the old style way of freezing, beating, freezing, beating and that works well enough, but is dependant on being around for hours. With a dedicated machine we'd have icecream much more frequentlyYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
I have a gaggia and since it got fixed last year I haven't really used it. May have to get it out again some time this summer...!
BEST ever gadgets:
My le cruset casserole pans- amazing how versatile they are!
Dishwasher- would never be without it!
Oh and my kenwood. Once you get used to it it's brilliant!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
I have so many gadgets I dont use, though in my defense I do think I only bought half of them!
Popcorn maker - A disney one which was fun for about the first week and when I couldnt find the kernels to make any more I quickly gave up on that.
Smoothie maker - Disney again (I think at the time there was a sale of disney kitchen items lol), it was amazing though again only for the first few weeks. Making milkshakes and alcoholic smoothies were amazing but it was costing me a fortune so I had to stop using it.
Coffee machine - Bought as a present when me and my OH moved in together and used maybe a handful of times. Last week I decided I quite fancied a coffee from the machine. I opened it up to place in a pod and was greated by a green and mouldy old pod, I still havent got rid of the mouldy smell!
Mini food processor - My mum bought a new one so I got her old one. I plugged it in, couldnt get it to work and so it found a nice new home in my kitchen cupboard.
The best thing in my kitchen has to be my Mickey mouse toastie machine, its used practically every other day. Toasties are great for lunch and for using up any leftovers from the previous nights dinner!0 -
:j:j:j I see le creuset cast iron pans do very well on the thumbs up list....I'm very partial to cast iron pans...:rotfl::happylove
I'm undecided about the Breville Pie makers...I'm intending to use them more often, honestly I am.:oDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08
