I wonder what gadgets we all have lurking in the back of our cupboards? Do you think anyone would by a sandwich toaster on Ebay?

I remember my mum used to have an egg squarer & slicer (very useful  )

We've got a cheap coffee machine that makes AWFUL coffee.

Ive got a mincer that wont stay put on its suction base and a biscuit forcer for extruding soft biscuit dough .Both have hardly ever been used.
You can use sandwich toasters to toast pasties if you make pastry instead of using bread, and fill them with cooked leftovers.Just make sure to grease the toaster plates first.

I use my sandwhich toaster all the time. They're great for using up odds 'n' sods. I have no gadgets in my kitchen that are not in very regular use. Not because I am a sensible and experienced home maker but because the Soda Stream, Pressure Cooker, Coffee Maker, Spice Grinder, Bunsen Caramalizer, Coffee Frother and other such nonsence went down the charity shop last week!

The high cost of postage and packaging might put off most people looking at sandwich toasters. I sold a sandwich toaster at a car boot sale a few weeks ago for £4.

I've already asked Mr-nearly-VickyA for a stick blender for Christmas.

We're generally quite good as all our gadgets seem to be in constant use.

Math!!!!!! I wanted a soda stream but am too tight to fork out for a new one!!!

I must admit that my pasta maker hasn't got used yet but that's only because the kids have been home and would want to interfere :( I am going to make the most of it when they are both back at school.

  • My juicer rarely get used cos it's such a pig to clean afterwards.

I love my (wallace and gromit) sandwich maker I use it to get cheese into my otherwise, extremely fussy eldest son(10).

Mixer gets used to make batter for the waffle maker.

Coffee maker gets used on Sat and Sun Mornings - I'd love a Gaggia one though.

Microwave only gets used about once a month though - just sits there gathering bank statements - LOL.

I have a Gaggia coffee maker that we somehow ended up with from the OH's mother... we have never used it though... we also have a cafetiere which gets used loads when my Mum comes but I have to discourage OH otherwise he fancies a coffee at about 9:30 in the evening and then can't get to sleep!!!

I don't have a microwave but am considering one, just for convenience.

I remember reading an article in a paper about how these sort of devices all come under the title of being "labour saving" but often aren't used because of all the palava trying to operate or clean them!
I have a draw stuffed with utensils and I think there are only one or two things in there that I really wouldn't ever use...

I don't bother with my sandwhich maker and the George foreman grill doesn't get overly used. i got an espresso/cappuccino maker for Xmas and everyone said I wouldn't use it much but I do everyday - I have to limit my self to two shots(one mug) a day. I was unsure about the breadmaker too but love it and couldn't go back to bought. I had a thing that you did bacon on in the microwave that was a right faff and only used once. The mircowave only gets used for warming milk for the cappuccinos(quicker then coffee maker) and the odd emergency defrost.

I use our egg slicer at least once a week. Can't have a salad without sliced hard boiled egg. I did one for my mum this morning, but her slicer has a few strings missing so it is more of an egg chunker :D .

(Sorry I couldn't get the quote thing to work properly - site very slow, they must have kicked off the weekly newsletter already I bet.)
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
