British Airways Make me angry

Options
Flew with BA in Feb and returned with them, 2nd March 9 hour flight from Vancouver to Heathrow 2 adults and 2 children,

Return flight the inflight entertainment wasnt working for NO ONE so we were all told to fill in a claim form and they would compensate the whole plane :)

Had a letter off them 10th March with a £25.00 voucher for us to use on the "highlife shop" or mail order if we're not flying before 31st Oct 08 (this is when the voucher expires) I phoned them when i received the letter saying it wasnt good enough £25.00 between 4 spoke to C**** 18th April saying she would look into it,

Just got off the phone after being put on hold for 8 minutes 4 call to them this morning other 3 i kept getting cut off and spoke to J**** and she told me that D***** had CLOSED my case on the 7th April

J**** also told me that i cant speak to D***** or C**** as she cant transter any calls, so if i wanted to speak to either of them id have to recall and hope either of them answered

So J**** has reopened my case and ive got to wait another 28 days to see whats happening SOOO ANGRY:confused:

And to cap it all the only number i can get for BA is the one ive been phoning all morning

Does anyone know of any other number apart from the 0844 one, ive rang 118118 and they also gave me this one  lol

Did tell J**** this morning that i was angry that Kate Moss was compensated straight away to the tune of 10K she couldnt answer me on that one.

Compensation?? A 9 hour flight with 2 children and no inflight entertainment would be pretty horrendous!! And offering you £25 voucher to spend in their own store between the 4 of you, when you've no doubt paid £100s for the flights, is pretty poor!

If you go to www.saynoto0870.com, there are lots of landline and free numbers to call British Airways.

If you've been ringing 0844 4930777, then the freephone number for the same line is 0800 123111, and if that doesn't work, try the landline number of 0191 4907901.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    That is pretty evident.

I was thinking of an amount as opposed to just saying 'that's not enough'.

OP, you need to look into what your contract with BA says. Was the IFE guaranteed, or detailed as part of the flights?

But BA think that is fair. What do you think is fair? How much were your flights?

We went to the states on a 10 hour flight when I was 12, and my brother 10. If it wasn't for the films, my dad would have had no hair left by the end of the flight, as asking a child to sit in a seat and not run around for 10 hours is near impossible, and it places a LOT of stress on the parents to constantly keep their kids entertained.

I would say £25 EACH and in cash would be the minimum compensation. Did BA provide all the kids onboard with anything like puzzles, colouring in books etc...?

Thanks for getting back to me everyone,

Id say £25.00 each was fair compensation, have you looked in the duty free shop lately, what can you buy for £6.25 lol

No there was no colouring books etc sent round for the kids.

I'll check on the other details about the inflight entertainment and the price of the flights, maybe i should be happy with the £25.00 what really narked me was i was told it was being looked into then i phone them back 3 1/2 weeks later to be told case closed.......

It would be unusual for a child to qualify for the same amount of compensation as an adult (even though they were arguably more upset by the inconvenience), so I would not be surprised if they offered you half the adult amount for the children.

Remember that, unless it is stipulated in your contract that IFE will be provided, you are asking for compensation over and above your contractual rights. Therefore do not be surprised if they are not willing to offer a great deal more.

Though IFE is much more commonplace than five/ ten years ago, it is still not a given that all flights will have it. For instance, I flew with Delta ten days ago, and was pleasantly surprised that they have personal entertainment systems, as many of their planes still do not.

I would say £25 per person was a fair amount.

The flights will have been approx £300 each way in WT as a minimum.

Are you a member of BA Executive Club?

I would post on www.flyertalk.com on this forum:

    http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=446

Even if you're not in BAEC you will get better answers there.

The forum is frequented by quite a lot of BA staff and the regulars may be able to give you a better contact number/route.

I have obviously missed a trick here. When we flew back from America with Virgin, the inflight entertainment was not working for the duration of the 9 hour flight. Must admit, it never occurred to me to ask for compensation
