1. Yes you will have to declare it as a PEMC as that is exactly what it is. However they might not need to take note of it if the condition is fully resolved and you are not taking meds for it. Let the insurance decide.
I had surgery recently and there was a loading on the policy as it was within the last 6 months, even though it is fully resolved.
2. Direct Travel allows the main policyholder to travel for up to 45 days on their own on their Premier policy and a named partner to travel for up to 31 days on their own.0 -
Agree with LUCI on 1. - can't help with 2. as it is beyond my knowledge but as "not the normal" I would suggest speaking to your insurers when you declare you PEMC!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Thanks for advice - have been checking quotes - how about Travelplan Online underwritten by Fortis? I think I saw in an earlier posting that Fortis are reliable.0

Hi, I'm looking for an annual policy for Europe.
We are going to take our bikes on the back of the car and do some cycling whilst in France.
Does anyone know if these will be covered will we be whilst riding them!?!
Can anyone recommend a decent company without huge excesses or how we can compare excess details on the moneysupermarket type sites?
Many thanks0 -
LIZ - Fortis (in my experience) is probably the best policy and best value for money you can get, they also underwrite the Post Office policies, see if their prices are better than you found.
Fortis are my personal favorites where claims are concerned.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Georgiac - Sorry can't help here - I work in Florida and I cannot say with any confidence who is better than who where Europe is concerned (but the reputable companies are probably just as good in Europe as they are here) except again, as the cycle question is a "non-regular" issue you would probably be better off calling a prospective insurer and asking them direct about the cycles.C. Big Blue = Never dealt with them, but if it is a White Horse Scheme = Run Away ! ! !
Liz - stay away from them and Axa - really not worth the savings. W/Horse are based in Ireland and therefore you have nothing to back you up if you need it = ALWAYS use an insurer that is Authorized with the FSA not as in W/Horse case by the Irish version who won't help you as you are not an Irish Resident.
Also £26 for 3 adults and dangerous sports - I wonder what coverage you are getting for that even if they were reputable!
DA - Just got an FSA ruling through today (AXA) $59,000.00+ upheld as lady had OCPD and declared it and Axa denied as related to PEMC (which FOS adjuicator gave me transcript from the sales call to Axa wher they said they would cover!) but patient treated for Pneumonia and (Per our Dr's) Pneumonia is viral and somethin you catch, therefore cannot be PEMC although condition MAY have been more chronic as pt had PEMC == Ruling Axa has to pay us in full within 30 days and 8% interest and 8% award to patient for costs.
S-W-E-E-T!!!!! Nice to see AXA getting reamed. I'll never forgive them for the way they treated my relative - also COPD and a stretch in ICU in Florida. Then the unpaid bills start coming in and the very nice Mr B starts chasing! Only joking. I'd like to warn people (again) about AXA - they are bandits. Don't have anything to do with them - even if they're giving policies away.0 -
Hi guys im off on holiday to the cnaries with my partner and 3 children in june and looking for travel insurance and wondering if you can help me as ive never travelled abroad and don't know which companys are good and which to stay clear of....
im thinking of getting annual cover as me and my prtner are getting married later this year -would i be able to get annual cover to cover my whole family in june then just the 2 of us in sept?
i had my appendix out in august lst year and my son had his teeth out in hospital in feb this year -do i have to tell them about this or as i no longer have my appendix/my ds no longer has his teeth will be ok?0 -
LEAANNE - Anything by Axa (a lot of bank's policies & M&S are Axa) or White Horse (and any foreign based insurance) is good to stay clear of. Do not buy from a travel agent.
Look at Post Office (Fortis - my favorite company), Tesco, RBoS, Direct Line, Insure & Go are all pretty good.
Yes tell them - they are unlikely to do anything but if you told them then it is clear and ther can be no arguing later.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

I've just received a quote for renewing my annual travel insurance which is double last years. It includes cover for pre-existing medical conditions which were covered last year and nothing has changed. I have gone to the various comparison sites and they all seem to quote a lot more for pre-existing conditions. When I asked why, they said it was due to the increase of the cost of treatment worldwide. But double?
Anybody know of any insurers who are not hiking up their premiums so much?0
