Rachel - 41.36 is a great price - BUT it matters most what the coverage is, look at the site for this, normally what you should look for is a section like "Important Information" or "Schedule/Policy Details" etc.

Basic advice if at the bottom of these pages, or in the "claims procedure" or " complaints procedure" sections, it mentions Axa or White Horse, please stay away from that policy.

I'm spending about £400 on a romantic weekend away to Edinburgh with my husband, but it is a DIY package- train, 2 hotels, flight home- all pre-paid. I have taken out a single trip policy just now, as I panicked about what would happen if we have that tremendous snowfall again and we can't travel! Just wondering if anyone has ever successfully claimed for one of these types of trips?

Read the policy carefully to ensure it covers everything you need it to.

I know that on an annual policy, for a UK break you need to have 2 nights accommodation booked, but I don't know if it has to be 2 consecutive nights at the same accommodation.

    hey guys,

just wondered if anyone had used travelinsuranceweb.com for their travel insurance needs?

OH and I got cover for a week in Zante for 15 quid with them and have read all the policy wording etc and thought the cover was good (10m medical, 2.5k baggage etc) but having googled them have seen a few bad reviews... any helps?

Says "Travel Insurance Web is a trading style of Astrenska Limited" any good?!

    Thanks in advance : )
  • Just wanted to publicly give some support to the posts of FH BRIT- he has given me some invaluable advice through a PM that has helped someone I know who has very serious claims issues in the US. He has not only helped with the stress/worry of the situation, he has managed to give practical advice which is worth so much as well. Please take note- he knows what he's talking about first hand.

Is there any particular insurance company that I should use for my mother in law who is 82 and going to Mexico in April. She has had a full medical which is fine and has no conditions.

    Thanks

They are as good as most that I have dealt with. Not the best but deffinately no where as bad as Axa or White Horse (Stay away from these 2)

They are part of the same group as columbus direct. Policies are similar but TIW does NOT include scheduled airline failure cover where as columbus does. Price wise, for us (couple) Columbus is ~51 with cash back, TIW is 45. Declaring minor condition (HRT) gives prices of 54 and 52.

Sandie11 - Saga are "Senior Citizen" specialists and The Post Office is always my recommendation. Unfortunately her present medical condition is not what the IC's will look at - it will be the 82 years and the risk they are taking compared to other 82 year olds in the past. Just her age makes her more of a risk - i.e. a trip over a kerb and 82 year olds tend to break more bones and injure themselves more than a (say) 30 year old. And no matter what most 80+ people have things that are, or have already started to break/fail. She may run the London Marathon and bench press 500lbs but the IC's will see a "typical" 82 year old!
