    Afternoon everyone,

feeling a little tired today, but only to be expected i suppose. Would have a kip now but DS2 overdue a feed, and DS1 only just gone down for a nap. Cuppa will have to do instead.

pigpen huge congrats to your sister, she must be thrilled after that weight. I don't think you appreciate as much when it comes easily as to what a miracle it really is.

Need to catch up on the thread, but good luck to any littlies like mudbaths daughter doing SATs or other exams this week. I know how fraught it can be for them and you, so hoping that peace will reign in your households.

Pigpen, I am in for 2-2.30. In fact I am going to cheat and start now as I missed all the others as I was at work. Got to collect DS1 from school at 3pm so that is my deadline.

Cue anything other than Benny Hill. Or Radio 4 which I got stuck listening too this morning.

I am also setting myself a HHF challenge for tonight - half hour filing....boring but essential.

Nicki - hope it goes well tonight. DH always has his boys alternate weekends (Fri pm to Sun pm) plus we cover 4 weeks of the school holidays. Their mother has been known to use access as a tool to get at us which hurts the boys more than anyone. Try to be fair despite the negative feelings, and don't forget about holiday cover, fine when you are not at work but what about when you are? HTH - meant in a supportive way.

just wanted to say a quick hi to dougierobino.

sounds like we have very similar situations. I had DS2 last week, DS1 is 18 months. I am also a teacher, so similar problems of sorting work stuff and trying to get ready for the new baby while running around after the 1st one.

I had a look at your list, and it looks very similar to mine. I didn't manage to get all of mine done, but DH has been very good and done a fair few bits for me during the bank holiday weekend before the baby was born, and also while he has been at home on paternity leave.

I would say pace yourself, and make sure you get plenty of rest too. It's not easy, but you will get there. Also, prioritise what is actually important to do before the baby arrives, like getting clothes and car seat ready, whereas things like a mobile they won't 'need' in the 1st few weeks.

    good luck

    Hello again.

    Major rant!!!

Am I a total cow - pigpen, read the following before you say yes! I've just had a row with my friend. She did me a favour by having dd tonight after school as i'm on a course. Both our children have SATs tests at school tomorrow, maths. I'm laid back about them and just help dd with five minutes maths a night which can be anything from tables, to money...anything short and fun. Well, my friend takes the two children home and then gives them a SATs paper to do, a whole 45 minutes maths paper.

My friend then crows to me that DD could only do half the paper and my DD was really upset. She showed me the paper and she had given DD a year 6 paper when she's only in year 4. Friends daughter is year 6.

I pointed out to my dd that she's actually passed a year 6 paper even though she could do half of it and anything she gets now will be really easy. But I am so mad at my friend for doing that. Would you make a child who'd come to play do a SATs paper?

My dd has always struggled with maths and we've really built her confidence up this year so I was seething. I made a joke of it to her and she's happy now but how stupid can you get. Is it any wonder that my friends younger daughter (7) has nightmares and wakes up screaming 'I can't do that question mummy, don't make me do anymore'. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    Rant over!

No, your so called 'friend' is a cow. What a freak! I would have gone mad!! What age is DD?

I need some of your excellent advice ladies

As you know, I get married in August and so many of the arrangements are still up in the air, the most pressing of which is the fact that I haven't done the invites yet and if I'm much longer about it, i'll be ringing people the night before!!

I've got some friends who have offered to make them for me and I've got some ideas but time is marching on and the end of May and whole of June are a nightmare at work.

Now do I do what Biggibbon has suggested and only get my friend to do to 15 odd invites for the day do and just buy some shop-bought invites for the 50 odd I need for the night or do I ask my friends to help me make handmade for the night as well?

You lovely lot have been to more weddings than I ever will, as I usually avoid them like the black death. Would you care if someone only sent you a cheapie shop invite so long as you got invited?

Sorry to be a pain but its getting to me now!

    Hi LG,

M&S do the blank cards and you can download the software to personalise the inside for free. There are a couple of designs- one that is £5 for 10 cards and one that is £7.50 for 10. Sorry, not very sure how to post a link but if you go on marksandspencer.com and then go to the cards and stationary page its on there. I've also seen the sets in store where you get a CD rather than downloading the software. HTH

I haven't disappeared again, I had/have major internet problems, courtesy of teenage DD (which she denies ofcourse) It seems to be working today.

I have also started a new supply job at a Primary School (in school office) so away from home every morning. But I am getting up early and gets lots of housework done then, I quite like it so I think I will keep it up.
Haven't had a chance yet to catch up on the thread but will do so some time today. I am still flying.... honest, miss Pigpen

    this morning before work:

    fill washing machine
    fill dishwasher
    tidied kitchen
    tidies living room

    this afternoon after work
    hung washing out
    emptied dishwasher
checked if internet was working and it is, so now I am here!!

Missed you all like crazy, hope you and baby are fine Michelle and Johanne, will catch up on thread as soon as I can.

    afternoon all

I've had a very lazy today, catching up with my sky plus. I was looking after my cousin's baby yesterday. We had a lovely day, but of course, no flying. Funny how you can work around your own eh? I was frightened to go to the loo and leave her :o never mind anything else.

Soappie - you probably know this, but in case you dont, the first 5 letters of your surname make up the first part of your driving license. The middle 6 numbers are your date of birth. If my memory serves, then females have a 5 stuck in there somewhere, so my middle bit is 658049. You take the first and last numbers and that gives you the year you were born. My birthday is 04/08 which is in the middle, but back to front with a five stuck in there to show that I'm female. The last 5 digits are random. Hope this makes sense and helps out. My dad was upset when he moved house as he had to give up his old license and get a new fancy one.

Hmmm, suppose I better make a move. I'll do a menu plan for the rest of the week. Does anyone know what Tesco's policy is on replacing items you dont like? I'm sure Sainsburys will refund your money if you dont like an own brand product. I've just bought Tesco value teabags and they were minging. I want my money back (all 32p or whatever ;) )

Hello to all the newbies

*sighs* I'm not doing too well ATM, think I might have to give up on today. DD2 is teething really badly (and may be having her 6 mth growth spurt too), she's only happy if she's on me, or feeding from me  and the thought of everything I need to get done is getting me down. Plus I'm ridiculously tired. Should have had a nap earlier really.

Am popping out to Asda to get some accompaniments for tonight's dinner (going to a friend's for chilli  ), which should keep DD2 happy for a while, and maybe have a wee nap when we get back, before DD1 comes back from her auntie's.

Probably see you all tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your day!
